my thoughts on him from earlier today:

JonHeist wrote:No odds available on us taking AJ Johnson at 23

And they’ve got other guys as high as 45:1

Vecenie/Nehm probably don’t know sh*t

I can’t imagine we draft a guy who had a 42% TS in the Aussie league in the first round when we’re in win-now mode

Would be malpractice — he is two years away from being two years away

Only way it makes any sense if you draft and stash for salary reasons

there was a 99% chance he'd still be there at 33

And if he's not, then let someone else take the risk on a dude who needs to fix his body and learn how to turn skill into basketball skills. For reference, Giannis was 23 lbs heavier than this dude when he was drafted. Can't expect every noodle to turn into Greek gods.

Big time Rashad Vaughn vibes here in terms of worthlessness.

AJ Johnson is the kind of player you take a chance on at the end of the 2nd round and stash on the end of the bench for a couple years to develop. He is not the kind of player you take in the first round, even in an historically lackluster draft.

Horsts draft track record sucks. But no doubt Doc had major input.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

He’ll be great for his 4th team on his third contract

What's the housing market in Oshkosh like?

This dude should go ahead and buy rather than rent.

unless he just wanted someone he has to give ZERO minutes to this year

I at least watched a lot of DJ Wilson and knew he sucked. Can't say I've ever seen a complete game of AJ Johnson, but neither can the Bucks since he didn't play.

Aight, it took about 6 minutes, but I've talked myself into it. Slightly poor man's Ant Edwards in 2 years.

Using your 1st round pick on a guy you could have gotten with your 2nd round pick will now be referred to as ''Pulling a Jon Horst''.

Nah, pulling a Jon Horst is taking guys in the first round who don't impress on tape, don't produce in game, and surprise can't play in the NBA because they suck.

If Horst had a style of player that he targeted it would be "untalented" or "scrubs". That's Horst's version of Heat Culture.

This is an absolute disaster of a pick. Vecenie once again nails our pick and it's my worst nightmare. Just a complete and total waste. I've never hated a draft pick more than this one

Yeah, I could see him making an impact back in the NBL in 6-7 years.

same, but his stats are so bad idk how he could be anywhere near being even a little bit ready for the NBA

None of you have any clue if he would have been available at #33. It's likely the Bucks knew he wouldn't be.

You can hate the pick, but it can't be for thinking the Bucks took him too early.

That second part is not knowable.

As always, I think you have to have courage and draft your guy. You can't **** around and get cute with "value" and hope nobody else takes him. That's why we have Giannis and the Hawks have memories of Dennis Schroeder.
