I had a similar thought. Not saying we're there, but we're well on the way. An identity building game.

last thing i'm going to say about this game is that i'm kind of in awe of the in game adjusments. biggest one was how we were guarding Hartenstein. started giving him plenty of space and he was effortlessly sinking that push shot. we got up into his space very quickly after those first 3 or 4 and i think he only made one the rest of the game.

If we had a defensively good backup big instead of Bobby I think this could be a straight up elite defense. Between Brook still having some juice left, defensive destroyer Giannis being available whenever we need it, Dre/AJ now giving us a combined 50ish min of plus defense on the wings, GTJ/Prince being respectable, our defensive personnel is sneaky good. You get a plus defender in Bobby's place and this defense could get nasty.

Can't overstate this enough. SHA is all the hype as an MVP and AJAX did an incredible job on him and Green chipped in as well. SHA was not a factor.

And agreed rarely do we get a head to head view of 2 MVP contenders and one just DOMINATED and the opponent had NO ANSWER, and the other had a quiet night.

If there are MVP voters who can still vote SHA over GA, they should have their voting rights removed.

It's because of how genuinely happy the players looked to win it and how serious they took the tournament each game. This tournament definitely has merit.

Guys like SGA and Tatum are great players but them even being mentioned in the same breath as Giannis is a joke. The difference in game impact was just so profound between Giannis and SGA tonight.

This was a nice preview of playoff Giannis we haven’t gotten to see this guy since 2022. Let’s hope he’s healthy this April Id like to see what he could do.

Doc getting AJax and Dairy seasoned early will pay dividends come playoff time.

Giannis emphatically going into MVP/DPOY mode after coasting on D to start the year is **** awesome. Looks like a man on a mission, stay healthy, please.

Those two are stepping up and saving the season. It’s been huge.

Ruben Quevedo wrote:Also the 4th quarter offense was an absolute abomination (again). Could barely advance the ball to the 3 point line, let alone get it into the paint.

We were fortunate enough that we made some pretty important threes but yeah it was a total mess with just Giannis out there. As I said in the GT we gotta find one more ball handler/shot creator from somewhere because you need at least 4 guys on the floor now that can create against these top defences.

When Giannis actively wants to impact the game on the defensive end he’s the baddest man on the planet. I feel like he’s evolved enough to not try to do everything offensively as long as role players plus Dame are scoring enough that he doesn’t feel like he has to do everything on both ends and can commit to wrecking souls defensively, especially in the 4th quarter. Is there a more menacing defensive player than a somewhat fresh Giannis with 5 minutes to go?
