If that blood clot doesn't resolve by playoff time this team isn't going anywhere anyway, but I think the takes here are a little overboard.

Getting blown out in March when the stakes are pretty low and the outcome affects only a narrow range of possible playoff seedings doesn't strike me as despair-inducing.

It's all about six five or four
The losses don't mean any more
Give up sweet corner threes
In the land of the cheese
Till the playoffs it's all a big bore

And no, I will not engage in a debate about flip-switching. I mean switch-flipping.

Fred Van Vleet and Tari Eason would have needed to Monstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jayson Tatum to save this thing.

Sigh.

If we had made the hypothetical Houston deal, we aren't making the Kuzma deal. Eason makes all that redundant and we've still got AJ.

I get it, people are really ticked off. But a lot of this could have been avoided if our owners/GM/Doc had been even just a little bit smarter over the past two years. They've blown literally every personnel and coaching move. It's like the Lasry's made a deal with the devil for that title and then got out once payback time came.

I am not the biggest Dame fan but he is the 2nd best player on the team. I don't know what people are thinking but replacing his scoring ability is almost impossible.

Having a capable backup like Bobby or Sims was definitely more important than most thought too. We had a rut when Bobby was out for a week or two when his grandma passed as well and Sims filled in nicely at the beginning of his suspension.

This is a good point. Let’s hope that things will improve when Bobby returns. Will Simms also be back?

I agree with this thinking.

I didn’t watch the Hawks game for that many minutes; so I was wondering why our defense was so bad yesterday. That seemed to be the reason we lost. Any analysis on that? We obviously can’t blame Dame for poor defense yesterday.

Guys were playing flat footed. Very little effort. Out of position. Rebounding was bad as usual. Guys just standing there hoping the ball comes to them while one of the Hawks come flying in btween all of them for the put back. Lazy

Generally this is true but was absolutely not the problem in this game.

Yeah, no one's debating this at this point. Team could have just made the right coaching hire plus done the Jimmy trade, and I wouldn't give two **** about AJ Johnson being gone because that theoretical team (Giannis/Jimmy/Atkinson) has a puncher's chance of making a deep playoff run even with Dame's blood clot.

Also, Tari Eason hasn't played in a B2B since November and won't reach the 60-games OR 26+ minutes played mark this year, yet again. You guys have to start entertaining the idea that he's just not a durable dude, let alone the two-way All-Star upside guy that he would have to be in order to warrant the kind of trade value we've collectively ascribed to him. Another guy whose body just can't seem to handle being a 30+ minute, 82-game player with his style/approach.

Could this be corrected by coaching strategy change of some kind? Or the specific player composition on the court at given points in time?

These seem to be the only corrective possibilities to me.

Him playing I don't think would have made a difference because the D was so bad. But my main point was that of course they are better with him playing. But are they better with him to be a contender? Thats debatable.

I didn't see this game, but Brook's sucked against Atlanta this year. It's mobility of their bigs, shooting outside Capela, & their floaters. But Doc keeps riding his horses cuz that's how he operates.

Then, I read Prince covered the opposing point again. Trae went 4-16, probably cuz of length, but had 19 assists. If your d's constantly getting broken down, you're in big trouble. You're practically DOA when your coach doesn't know how to match up.

They were doubling Trae and Atlanta had absolutely no issues dealing with it.

That was factored in when leaving out Jericho Sims having to Monstar Jarrett Allen. Granted I don't think trading Dame, especially in a hypothetical deal that didn't dip us under the apron, would be mutually exclusive with dealing Middleton (and subsequently AJ) so I would imagine in this universe there's a high chance Kuzma still winds up a Buck.

It's cool if you guys think Tari Eason is Kawhi Leonard or Scottie Pippen currently sitting behind Dillon Brooks, I'd tend to believe he'd be a fine young player thrown into a mess that he would come nowhere near clawing us out of and I don't believe the removal of Dame is a simple step forward on it's own.

Prince is over rated as a defender. Doc is not that smart.

I haven't watched the last 4 games - they're such a slog to watch out there, especially on offense. So we were doubling Trae with Prince at the point of attack?

One of the worst parts of being this middling is the division it creates on this board. Longing for the days of flat out sucking and everyone being united in their self deprecation and collective lol'ing at the org.
