The middle ground is to give him a largely ceremonial "VP of Basketball Ops" title to consult with Horst and go play golf. Elevate one of the bazillion assistants (Prunty? Joerger?) who aligns with a more up-tempo game with Giannis doing his best Magic impression.

seems pretty clear to me at this point that doc and giannis are both going to still be here at the start of the season

Some of these old era coaches are stubborn in some ways to the detriment of the team. Doc’s refusal to change the starting lineup till the last game in the playoffs, cost us dearly.
In the Knicks, the stubborn behavior of overplaying their starters in the regular season and underplaying the bench in the RS, led to, in the playoffs, exhaustion for the starters and unpreparedness for the bench.

Lesson: The Bucks seriously need to consider a coaching change.

I think the main thing is that a big part of teams having an "extra gear" in the playoffs is just playing their best players more. If you're maxing them out in the regular season, you've got nowhere to go.
