I've heard many different stories about Diamond - his ACT was too low, his ACT was low but he was waiting for his latest score before deciding where to commit, that he scored well enough on his most recent try, that he didn't, etc.
But I have to imagine that Maryland spent the last week going hard on Stone while Bo was busy coaching his team into the Elite Eight.

I love all these fan theories. "He's too dumb to play here!" "It's the Under Armour connection!" "He wants to play right away and Bo wanted to redshirt him!"
I suppose it's entirely impossible that maybe...just maybe...he liked the idea of playing somewhere else better. From reading these reactions you would think that no top Wisconsin recruit has ever gone to an out of state school.

I'm also amazed by how quickly Stone went from stud to dime a dozen nobody in the eyes of some Badgers fans.

A small subset of every fanbase does this **** when recruits spurn them.

Koenig
Showalter
Hayes
Happ
Brown
???
I don't follow Wisconsin close enough to answer that, I guess.
Really hard to say with all the unknowns.
I think it's safe to say Happ has the inside track on one starting forward spot. My guess is Jordan Hill starts in place of Showalter. Hill's most frequent comparison has been to Michael Flowers and he apparently wowed as a scout team guard this year in which he redshirted. Brown really has to come a long way to start. Iverson, who verbal'd this spring, is a 6'5" do-everything swingman with impressive athleticism. I could see him making the jump.
The way things stand now, I see a lot of small ball in the future. I don't know the juco landscape at all, but this seems like an ideal time to shake the trees and see if there's a legit big to be had.

The "pure" NCAA IS a sham and has been for a long time.
There are legal age limits for quite a number of jobs and I have no problem with that.
Usually those jobs have an age limit due to being dangerous or to protect the public they serve. What jobs have legal age limits for other reasons?

Not sure why Wisconsin fans have to be so bitter towards these recruits. Maryland has an amazing future for next yr with Trimble coming back. Before stone was added they had a 3-headed monster in Layman, Carter, Trimble and were going to be a force in the big 10. Add in the UA affiliation, much like Oregon and Nike and it makes sense. Turgeon also recently developed Alex Len into a top 5 pick. It's not like Stone spurned the Badgers for Rutgers. Bo/Wisconsin will be fine, just stop going at his low ACT scores/under the table money/whatever rumor comes out and just take the news like an adult and move on.

Maryland plays in Madison next season. Should be interesting
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Bo will find the next Mark Vershaw or Kaminsky who will outwork Stone and foul him out in a key game next year.
And then Stone will be off to the pros in less than 12 months from today.

Nobody is not "acting like an adult" and that comment isn't meant to do anything but instigate. And academics were part of the equation without question, just a debate as to how much. To act like its sour grapes isn't reality. We have already seen academics be a pretty hot debate in the football program. For athletes, Wisconsin does have harder admission requirements than most other schools. Some people like that, some don't. But it was a factor with Stone and that's coming from someone who is close enough with Bo to regularly attend practice, and converse with Lamont Paris regularly.

Falls in line with the stuff I heard. Last time I talked to the guy was mid Feb. Obviously, none of it will be officially confirmed by anyone.

It's really frustrating to read that a kid just couldn't get into school but it is what it is. I have heard he only got a 13 ACT as well from a source independent of this board and that's pathetic. I got a 28 and I didn't even give a ****. I just wish we had another 6'10" - 7' recruit lined up to come in because Happ might end up playing the 5 next year. That worries me
Although I guess an incoming freshman wouldn't be able to do much anyway

Re: 2014-15 Badger Discussion Thread - Stone to Maryland
My son played against Stone, so I've seen him play some. Honestly, I always had visions of Rashard Griffith with this young man. I hope I'm wrong but he appeared like a really big fish in a pretty small bowl to me. Now I know his ranking was off the charts, and those guys know a lot more about him than I do, but that was my basketball gut! It will be interesting to see what happens. BTW, my son also played again Dekker, and I knew that he was legit immediately, even though is was also in a small bowl!

Someone needs to give Gasser his due. He was great. Both defensively AND stepping up to hit the biggest shot of the game. If he can bottle up McConnell it would be enormous. Dude is just such a great glue piece.
I was NOT impressed with Arizona last night until the last 6 minutes. They should have been down 10 going into that last 6. If Hollis-Jefferson doesn't get right by Sat I think Bucky has a clear advantage.
Tucker had a better collegiate career, but Dekker's pro potential is higher. Tucker didn't last long in the NBA. Dekker is an athletic 6'9 player who can probably play sf and pf. He has to improve his outside shot, but with some help from shooting experts, his ability to hit the three ball will make him even more valuable.
Well I assumed when we had guys on the list that didn't even sniff the NBA that that was what the list was. Alando was taken at the very end of Rd 1 and scored 211 career points in 3 seasons. Pretty sure Dekk can beat that.
