Top-loaded seating eliminates the "vomitories" (exits) within the seating area, which would otherwise consume space otherwise usable for seating. This allows more spectators to be placed closer to the performance & greater intimacy.

Some planned venues do not necessarily take advantage of this approach:

The placement just looks weird. Like they just slapped it in any old spot.

Didn't realize this but should be interesting. - "The upper concourse is located above the upper bowl, which means fans will now walk down rather than up to their seats."

That's how it is at the Kohl Center lower bowl.

Yes they will because it will be the "cool" thing to do. This area and Bucks game are going to turn much more into an "event" than a game, similar to Brewers game after Miller Park was built. If you don't think having some sort of ideal "picture taking" spot isn't important than you must be still in the 90s.

Despite being a very mediocre franchise, the Brewers have averaged 2.6 million fans since they opened Miller Park. The Brewers drew 2 million fans at County Stadium exactly one season.

The point is you're only guaranteed one year of strong attendance when opening a new arena/stadium. People will come out when it's brand new because they want to see what it looks like. Once they see what it looks like though, you need to give them a reason to keep coming back.

I mean, it's really not a fair comparison, though. Baseball is a summer sport, and with that comes summer weather, tailgating, and often outdoor seating (and even when the roof is closed, the place is big enough that you don't necessarily feel like you're sitting indoors). All of those things will attract fans forever, regardless of how the Brewers are doing.

I mean, look at County Stadium - their stadium attendance was consistently in the low 20k per game from 1979-1995, give or take a few small up and down. That was in a stadium that could seat 54K. Even when the Brewers were absolutely abysmal, County Stadium still churned out the 20k who would go just for sun and stars.

Even in year one, I'd be shocked if the new arena is sold out on every week night. Especially if the Bucks suck.
