Long shot, but has anybody ever gone to Mexico for dental work? I need 3-4 root canals/crowns and a couple other things and I'm being quoted at $7k here in the US+. Been reading a lot of experiences online and watching YT videos about people going to Mexico and see almost nothing but good experiences. Way cheaper but just a lot more time obviously.

So today me and my mom and my sister made three kinds raviolis for the Packer game tomorrow. My mom and dad found out about toasted raviolis this week and they've never had them so I thought it'd be a fun project, and it was. Spent about four hours making about 75 fresh raviolis, stuck them in the freezer, and we'll pull them out for frying tomorrow.

But god damn, I think I finally ****' nailed homemade pasta. I brought over my fancy standmixer with the pasta attachments, and when I've made pasta in the past it's been fine, but never what I would consider perfect. Folks, today the pasta I made was shockingly perfect. I rolled over 2 lbs worth of pasta sheets and they were amazing. Have no idea if they'll fry well tomorrow but I killed it today. Makes me actually want to make pasta more than once a year.

Does anyone here primarily use Amazon Music Unlimited as their streamer? I discovered today that I've been paying for it monthly for almost a year (****' ouch) which is infuriating because I never got notifications. I don't even see a receipt in my email or Thanks for Subscribing. I knew that Amazon Music came with Prime, but outside of a times where something was available there but not Spotify, I never touched it.

Anyway, the only reason I found out was I got an email today saying because I have Amazon Music Unlimited I now had access to their whole library in HD. I played a song from their Spacial Awareness playlist, then played the same song in Spotify, and yea, there was a noticeable difference in quality. Spotify sounded dull and lifeless, the same song sounded full and heavy in Amazon. Same with the rest of the music I've tried. As mad as I am that I spent all that money I gotta admit that the music quality is much better.

I'm in the middle of transferring 38 thousand songs and playlists over. I'm gonna try it out until mid-November when my subscription ends. Wondering if anyone here uses it?

I don't have Amazon so cannot comment on the comparison, but may be worth checking to make sure you have the highest quality options selected for Spotify. They try and get away with setting your quality lower, I presume to reserve and preserve bandwidth, and I've noticed it can reset after updates too.

Open up your preferences, then under Audio Quality you'll see options for Streaming Quality and Download. I also turn off the slider for auto adjust quality - I have 250mb download on my desktop, so I never have to worry about buffering. YMMV.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a desk/chair for a home office? I've gone from standing most of the day to working from home and sitting for 8 hours. So far it's been awesome, however, I'm using the dining room table as my workspace and after 7 days I can already feel it in my neck and back.

Not looking to spend a great deal of money and we don't have a ton of space right now, but I definitely need to do something.

I've got the highest quality set for Spotify, but looking around it seems like Spotify has the lowest quality streams compared to other services. Spotify HD is supposed to be out this year, so we'll see.

But after using Amazon for an hour, there's no amount of sound quality that would make me use this junk as my primary service. It's useless, buggy garbage. It's actually incredible how a company with so much money have apps that are so bad.

Added bonus is some work places block Pandora/Spotify but either forget or can't block it cause it's in Amazon.

I've worked from home for 5 years and work 45-50h weeks. Get the ErgoChair Pro if it's in budget.

ETA: Sorry I didn't read your full post before posting. This has doubled in price since I bought it, so may be out of your desired budget. But I really do strongly recommend it, and would purchase again at $500 for the amount I use it.

Read on Twitter

I say this as someone who listens to two-three hours of podcasts every day primarily sponsored by gambling sites, but the ubiquitous nature of sports gambling is massively disturbing to me. It's in every national sports broadcast. Pre-game, during the game, postgame, highlight shows, radio, and podcasts.

I'd say during the game the game they could do it even more like acknowledging a late cover or etc.

Referring to what you're talking about, the crazy part is that if you legally want to bet using a lot of the booking websites that sponsor like fan duel for example, there are only like 10 states you are able to use it from. You'd think it'd be freely available, like how you see it in parts of europe.

Nah, peak was Brent Musbuerger working in veiled gambling references during the game. That was fun as hell. Now the broadcasts are essentially screaming at the public with really gross sponsored content.

They've added "Live Scores" here which appear near the top when there are games going on. Many don't like it as they might be recording a game or don't want to know the scores right away for various reasons. It also takes up space on the screen. They've added an option to turn it off. Go into your profile, edit your profile and you can select to not have Live Scores appear. I just did it but I haven't tested if it works until there are games tonight.

A couple friends that I grew up here in San Diego always have in Tijuana. Just make sure the dentist is reputable, and there are many good ones from what I hear, and they are well trained from all over Mexico and choose to work near the American border. Plastic surgery done there is another story.

Is anyone here a developer? Specifically web? I'm constantly in a battle with our developers being slow as hell at work and we've been trying to implement agile proj. management and it's just not working in the slightest.

Not a developer.

I'm getting sick of agile tbh. It's used as a crutch for poor - or no - planning. I could go on and on, but this HBR article from earlier this year summed up my thoughts well.

https://hbr.org/2021/04/have-we-taken-agile-too-far

To your main point, I'll just caution that without good scrum masters, agile has the potential to slow you down further. Make sure you have good and adaptable people in place to help it all come together, otherwise people could be working on the wrong stories, inflating sizing, etc. Not unique to agile, but I think the framework allows more room for it without good management.

So we're attempting a hybrid sort of agile. Currently it takes us months to get something out, we want to cut it down by doing smaller updates throughout the lifespan of the project. Totally understand the agile being a crutch, but we're so far from that it's insane.
