From today. Great interview. Talks about he doesn't care about MVP, he wants another championship. And about his knee injury. A couple of pieces:

What basically happened is that if my leg had hyperextended one more time...

I was done. There’s nothing to cut that was in there. It was torn already. It was out — (the piece that) protected me from an MCL or ACL (tear). There’s a thing (in your leg) that protects you when you hyperextend (your knee) that doesn’t let you go all the way back. So that thing was torn. So if I had gone all the way back again, that’d be it for me.

I don’t know if you’ve seen where people wear a big brace on your knee, like Goran Dragic wears — a big brace. They told me, ‘Giannis, Tim Duncan wore this (so) wear this.’ I said, ‘Heeeell naw.’ They said, ‘Giannis, you need to wear this.’ And they had made one specifically for me. I said, “Hell. No. I’m not wearing that ****.”

Don't know if his natural range will ever extend to beyond the 3 but I don't doubt this man. He's made great strides though from 10ft out over the last couple of years. If he gets incrementally better from there and on those hook shots he is about to have historically efficient prime seasons over his next few.

If Giannis is somehow pushed out of a 1st team spot because the voters consider either Jokic or Embiid forwards, I'll be livid.

Giannis is a lock for one of the two forward spots. Just think this would be their way to reward both Jokic and Embiid for the seasons they're having, even though I'm 100% against it and it's incredibly stupid.

Yeah I agree Giannis is a lock for a forward spot. I think just do away with positions at this point.

I guess I'm fine with just doing 2 back court spots and 3 front court spots, but it's annoying to me that this only ever comes up when there's multiple guys having great seasons at the same position. Let's just accept that sometimes you're "2nd best" at your position and that's ok. D-Wade only garnered two 1st team All-NBA selections in his career. Sometimes your prime just happens to coincide with a couple other guys that are as good or better than you.

It's a little different at C since you could have the top two players in the league get defined as C despite not being otherwise similar to each other at all, whereas two "SGs" could be in the same situation and not hit that bottleneck. If you're going to limit the positions you should be able to define them clearly and limit them all in the same way. If you can't define them clearly then why have them?

There's no chance Gianni isn't first-team. Dude is in contention for the scoring title and DPOY. This is more of a case of trying to reward both Embiid and Jokic. While their games are quite different and they do their damage from different areas of the floor, they are definite Centers. Agree with Ron Swanson that sometimes people's primes just happen to coincide with someone who is even better. You could've argued Gianni over Anthony Davis in 2018, for example.

If the NBA dissolves positions for these things you could have scenarios where the first team is mostly guards or mostly big men. If everyone were healthy you could have a situation where Gianni, Embiid, Jokic, Durant and maybe either Luka or Tatum(?) would be the first team.

The reason they are going to do that is because they will give the MVP to Embiid and they can't have him be 2nd team behind Jokic.
