We take on Grant’s albatross long term, but get two useful players and below first apron.

Matt Moore reported Lakers have interest in Nic Claxton. I think he'd be a great fit in Milwaukee as well. Maybe there's a potential sign and trade here with Bobby or Brook?

Guys, again, just let the Deni trades die. It's not happening, and at the very least, it'll prevent JRoy from haunting this board like the ghost of Brandon Roy's knee cartilage.

T&T board. There was an idea of PC/Kuz for Grant posted that Jroy naturally loved. When I said they don't get out of the last year of Grant's deal without slight incentive being added he proceeded to tell me how much more valuable Grant was than Kuzma even though he loved the deal. I swear he was meant to be a mid-2000s Raps fan RGMer with the overvaluation stuff.

I still like the idea of facilitating a Cam Johnson to Denver trade with us getting MPJ though. Golden State still seems like the perfect Brook sign and trade destination, and Moody slots in nicely. If Bobby opts in (fingers crossed) and Trent only ends up commanding that $8-10 million salary range like Jim O. posited in the AMA, then this roster at least gives you some upside going forward without trading any more draft assets:

KPJ/Rollins
Trent/Green/AJJ
MPJ/Moody/???
Giannis/Tyler Smith
Bobby/Sims/???

You're still a legit backup (or starting) PG and playable rotation big short of a full playoff roster, but it's a start.

I’d be onboard with that roster. Biggest issue last season was Kuz/Prince/Brook getting minutes and not having a real SF. This solves those issues. MPJ is such a better fit with Giannis than Kuz.

I’d be fine with KPJ and Rollins as the PGs, especially considering Giannis is your PG on offense for 35-38 mpg anyways. So you just need guys who can guard, shoot, slash, run, which both can do, and then occasionally run the offense, which KPJ can do.

Biggest hole is needing one other rotational big assuming Tyler Smith isn’t really one. But they could probably find someone passable for the league min.

I prefer the ghost of Capt. Oden’s peg leg as he sails down the Willamette.

Is Dame still on this roster? Does this make it under the Apron?

How are you landing Moody in the Brook sign and trade? We can only take back half of the salary we send out in a sign and trade.

you insisted we'd never have a package that portland would accept

i countered we could put one together with jrue in a 3way

you mocked the idea

but i'll bite on a question maybe you would know the answer to. would portland have any interest in bringing dame back considering all thats changed since you dealt him?

Why would POR be interested in bringing Lillard back to sit out the year and maybe come back at a fraction of himself the following year on a massive contract?

I think Lauri is a good player but the Bucks need multiple good players, imo. They need to build a deep roster. People like to point to OKC and Indy but I would add LAC and Memphis in the mix as well. Adding another $46m+ player to the team makes it that much harder to create a bench.

Also, I don't think OKC is going to give up their picks this year. I think it's more likely for them to trade some of their role players like Kendrick Williams and Isaiah Joe and draft their replacements.

The way I see it, we’d turn a good player in Bobby into a very good player in Lauri. The other guys aren’t, or hopefully wouldn’t be, in our rotation. We also only gain 1m in salary and actually lose 2m for the apron calculation.

Basically, we’d likely be able to do all the same free agent stuff that we are currently hoping for.

Lauri is one of those exceptionally rare 20ppg scorers who does a majority of his work off-ball, and it’s not passively waiting like Taurean, he’s a very active mover, and that holds a lot of value. I think he could be a capable second option alongside Giannis, and the offensive fit is incredibly easy.

FWIW jayjaysee, one of the bigger contributors on the trade board, and another poster think the deal should become a three team deal where we send Bobby, Kuz, Pat, ‘31 1st, and ‘26 swap out and return Lauri and 38.

In that deal, the swap would go to Utah, and almost certainly wouldn’t convey, so I think that deal would be a home run for us.

On the other end of the spectrum, babyjax, probably the most prominent jazz fan on the trade board, thinks the original deal would need to have the ‘30 or ‘32 swap added to the proposal from us to get it over the line. The ‘30 swap is an easy yes from me.

Lastly, OKC is in a roster crunch, and has two picks in this draft, 15 and 24. I think they’d easily give their second pick for an asset in the future.

To get out of the Grant contract. Also, some think Dame will be back for the playoffs.

Some other team can hope for him his playoff return next year.

Better to go a different direction.

Yea, it would be to get off Grant's longer worse contract, then combine with whatever assets, picks, players, etc that would be involved to make them do so. You know, like any other trade. And then thrown in the nostalgia as extra on this one. I don't think Por really has any plans for playoffs next year so Dame being there for that is irrelevant. But, Por does own their own pick if its in the lottery, loses it if not. So, remaining bad for one more year is good or at least fine, which is another reason to be open to taking on a big salary for a guy not playing. Assuming the assets/incentives provided are sufficient, like in any trade.

He asked out, publicly, instead of going to management first and demanded Miami.

Not interested in a reunion tour.

T&T board is acting like Brunson/OG/Robinson and no picks is a good offer for Giannis

can't wait for the season to start

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
