I am downloading it right now on Series X. How are the controls ?
Is there a more "casual" mode or do you need to read 3 books and write an aviation thesis first ?

I thought it would be very hard, but it turns out it's pretty basic. This was very helpful to me. It covers some subtle tweaks to your controller, and getting you into the air. His next video covers landing (something I haven't attempted yet).

Many thanks. Will check the video. As for the landing, I will too prefer the "simplified" version of it in the beginning

I hope they come to the table with a complete story told in only three seasons

Hearing good stuff about that. A few people even saying it’s on their early GotY list.

Yup! I've heard the same. That's how I remembered it came out, I saw a tweet that said it "out Cyberpunks, Cyberpunk".

I thought it looked okay but not something I'd likely buy, but since it's on Game Pass I just installed it. I'll offer up my impressions after a few hours.

It's okay. I don't like the aiming at all, and the environments are ugly as hell so far.

But the big problem is the camera. It's unforgivable. You're given a very small window of action, meanwhile loads of enemies are loaded up immediately beyond a dumb field of view.

Besides the terrible camera, other stuff is interesting. Seems to be a robust upgrade system and lots of optimization for play styles.

I really **** hate the camera, but if I had $20 to blow on a weekend game I might buy it. If you have Game Pass, yea, of course play it.

I've died more playing The Ascent than I have in any game in recent memory. I wouldn't say it's hard, it's just that there are swings where you're cruising along, and all of the sudden you're overwhelmed with enemies you're not equipped for. A thing that I'm appreciative of is when you die, you keep the gear and XP you accumulated. I haven't done this but I could see it being a good farming method. If you didn't keep the XP I probably would have walked away by now.

Ok, I'm ready to throw my support behind Ascent as a GOTY candidate. It's really good. Learning curve is kind of unforgiving and the storyline is great

I don't think it's a good game, much less GOTY material, but it's a mindless time suck enough to recommend.

ETA: It also has a number of bugs where I complete the mission/goal, but can't advance. I need to quit, play the area and mission over and hope the prompt shows up that lets me complete it.

I'm playing on PC, I've experienced 0 problems. I really like it. Especially when you get about 4 quests in. I'm very much enjoying it.

Guilty Gear Strive is turning out a lot nicer than I anticipated. I've always had a hard time understanding traditional fighting games, but the tutorial mission mode in Strive breaks down concepts quite well. I never understood cross-ups, mix-ups, etc... before and I get it a lot more now. 12hrs in and still haven't even had a fight night with my buddies yet, so feeling like I'm coming out pretty good on this one.

I went back to my Demon's Souls save after I decided to do a bunch of end-game quests I've never attempted before. I've beaten a first playthrough twice, gotten about 50% through NG+, both mele and magic based, but I didn't bother with the side stuff. So I'm on my second mage build and I want to complete the Mephistopheles Quests, forge the Northern Regalia, and visit Sparkly the Crow. I've never killed all the NPCs and that's gonna happen. I've done all but one step to achieve maximum Hyper Mode, killing the phantom in 2-2 to get the Talisman of the Beasts. After I get that it's over for these hoes.
