Celtics beat a Nets team without Simmons, Bucks team without Middleton, and a (assuming they win this series) Heat team without Herro. When does everyone start giving them crap about an asterisk next to their Finals run? Or is it just Milwaukee and Phoenix that happens to?

You know the answer.

I think the answer is that only Nets fans do this for the Bucks and only Bucks and Heat fans will do this for the Celtics.

Wasn't just Nets fans. There were threads upon threads last year about how we deserved an asterisk and even mainstream media said it.

I don't think Boston deserves an asterisk. Injuries are part of the game, teams have to adjust and we didn't. NBA teams put the bulk of their resources into 2-3 players and when they lose one of them for an entire series that usually means they will lose. That doesn't take anything away from the team that won.

I just find it hilarious that nobody is saying this about Boston this year. They pretty much had the same exact road to the series as we did last year and everyone who gave us an asterisk refuses to keep that same energy.

I've NEVER understood these "celebrity" boxing matches. Who the **** wants to watch C and D and E and F-list celebrities box very poorly? Big Baby wasn't a celebrity when he was in the league. Jake Paul is a clown. I hate our society so much.

God I do not want Boston to win the finals. I don’t think they will, it’s Golden States to lose. Boston has won many games because of teams inability to hit ANYTHING.

Yes, their defense deserves credit. But not all of it.

Remember this is 13th game in 26 days, and 7 of those was dealing with Giannis at both ends of the floor.
People can say it doesn't matter all they like but to me the schedule and days of rest (or lack thereof) between series can actually determine this Finals.

Everyone clowns Gobert but Bam deserves some real criticism now too. We solved him last year, he was suspect as soon as Embiid returned in the Philly series, and has struggled against Timelord. He’ll be making $34mil/yr over the next 4 seasons, what he’s bringing just won’t cut it at that price.

He's like that 8th grader who hit his growth spurt early and just dominates weaker players. Match him up against someone with size and his game just hasn't developed to the point to overcome it, so he shrinks and just straight up isn't aggressive enough. Against smaller/weaker guys, and if he's in the mood, he can just crush it. Great player, but definitely not someone who can be relied on offensively. Ben Simmons is actually a good comp for him imo.

I mostly just remember Heat fans trying to tell us that Herro alone would be too much but I do vaguely remember one or two Bucks fans supporting a Giannis-Bam centered move.

Jaylen Brown is worse at dribbling than Middleton.

Damn if only we had a pesky on-ball guard to frustrate him...

This was my thought re: Carter also. No, he’s not stopping Tatum once he’s on his hip in the mid post. No he’s not able to challenge a Brown three on a rotation. But neither could George Hill.

But… all of Brown, Tatum, and Smart are mediocre, at best ball handlers. Put Carter on whoever is bringing it up to harass them and alter the flow of the Boston offense/delay them getting into their sets/create a TO or two.

Boston already plays very slow in their halfcourt. Delay them an extra 3-4 seconds in the backcourt and suddenly a handful of those scramble bailout threes become shot clock violations.

Just bizarre he wasn’t used after a good game 1.

Defies explanation completely.

And even if there was (unwarranted) skepticism of Carter's abilities, it was evident that Hill wasn't up to the task from the first second of his playoff appearance.
