Re: Around The League
Pels have made 10 threes in the second quarter and just completely flipped this game.

By the way, Wendell Carter went down with back spasms early in the Philly game. My guess is he doesn't play on Sunday, but its just a guess.

Re: Around The League
Orlando is 5th, Indiana 6th, and Philadelphia 7th in a 3-way tie. If Milwaukee loses Sunday and the Cavs and NY win, then Orlando and Milwaukee will be the 1st round matchup.skbucks1985 wrote:MickeyDavis wrote:MickeyDavis wrote:If we win Sunday we're 2. We have tiebreaker over Knicks
Magic/Pacers/Sixers tied for 5/6/7. Not sure how it shakes out if they all win or lose Sunday.
If we win Sunday we are 2 and will play Heat or Magic most likely
If its a 3-way tie Philly would be at 5, Indiana at 6 and Orlando at 7 (Philly's combined record would be 4-2, Indiana's 3-3 and Orlando's 2-4).
If the Bucks win and Philly and Indiana both win, Orlando and Miami would be the 7-8 matchup and Miami would actually pass Orlando and be at 7

You're right. I forgot that Orlando being a division leader supersedes the combined record.

If they win, there's a decent chance they'd still end up playing Orlando except as a 2 seed instead of a 4

If Orlando can't scrap by for the 5th seed, what makes you think they can handle Philly or Miami in the play-in? My guess is they drop to 8th or out in that instance.

Because a one-game scenario is a one-game scenario. I didn't think Atlanta had much of a chance to beat the Heat in the play-in last year and then they did and pretty handily at that.

Re: Around The League
So if we get the two seed it’s a likely Miami first round game.
If we get fourth it’s an Orlando first round game.
Shades of 2021 again!

Right & as 8th they have to play to stay 8 vs winnet of 9/10. My point being Bucks aren't guaranteed the Magic just because they beat them & finish 2/7.

I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: Around The League
A thought regarding the problem of tanking, which Bucks fans won't have to worry about for a couple years: why doesn't the NBA hold a tournament for all the teams who do not make it into the playoffs? 1 and done. The winner gets cash and the 1st overall. The runner up gets the second pick. After that, picks are determined based on margin of victory and loss. As long as you pay the players, they should have motivation for winning. It sure beats tanking. Either the seedings could be random using the old ping pong balls and/or you could give a first round bye to the worst teams? I think fans would be up for it.

Wild that OKC will be 1 seed in west. Not sure many would’ve picked that pre season.

If they beat Dallas on Sunday. Hottest team in the league is arguably the Mavs & they're still playing for homecourt?
*So LAC won the series & at worst draws with them. Any otHer tiebreakers(?) ie DAL clinched SW.
Maybe they'd rather push OKC down in standings for some reason or go into the playoffs on a high note.

The trouble with this scenario is it shifts the focus of the tank from the worst teams to mid range teams.
Say it's last year and Wembanyama's the prize. Decent teams would have loads of incentive to tank barely out of the playoffs, then turn it on in the draft tournament to win the first pick. Any team without a title shot would have sizable reason to do that. It would be pretty ugly... and darkly funny too probably.
With the current system tanking's not so bad now anyway. It's just good clean fun and a time honored NBA tradition to boot.
