Re: OT: Video Games/Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos
As someone who has over a thousand hours into Oblivion I'm fully torqued right now. Like got damn. I'll even take it in it's original form from a gameplay/level perspective just for the memories. Obviously would love improvements though.

Was pretty fun to take part in this though. I found it easier to do everything but shoot using a controller; shooting with the mouse was definitely a lot easier IMO. Gameplay itself obviously had some similarities to Rocket League but in a more grounded way, since...you know...you're not playing soccer with rocketship cars. Still very chaotic but felt like an easier learning curve than Rocket League to me since you don't have to worry about the flying mechanics in addition to the soccer mechanics.
One major difference, good and bad, is that this game apparently will not be free to play. I'm not sure how much I'd be willing to pay to play this to be honest, but in the very least, the beta was enough to get me interested in seeing where it goes from here.
I believe they're doing an open beta for this game this weekend for those that are interested. You can sign up here: https://www.playrematch.com/

Been playing AC Shadows for a couple weeks. I like it. Something very comforting about going back to the old Ubisoft formula when you're just looking for something mindless to kill time.
That said, the game is miserable when you're playing as the tank samurai. It stops being Assassin's Creed. The mobility and verticality vanishes. There's no longer any strategy. No more stealth.
Thankfully I haven't been forced to play as the tank all that much. It seems like you're given the freedom to mostly skip the character. The only time it becomes a problem is when you do too much bad stuff in the open and become Wanted, which then makes the game so difficult that you're force to switch for a cool down period until the season's change. I don't like it.

The start was really fun.
Then I sort of got to the point where all I was doing was unloading vans once things got automated.

There's been a demo available for 4 or 5 months. I thought it was ok. Wanted to come back at full launch, but will be playing Last Epoch's new season for a while then hopefully Oblivion drops soon too. On my list though.

Yup, hit just shy of 20 hours and it got to be repetitive. But for $20 it was worth it, and hopefully the updates bring new fun to the mix whenever they come out.

Thanks for the heads up. I just signed up. I'm not generally one for sports videogames unless they're arcadey like this. And the gameplay looks so clean it's got me curious.

I've been enjoying that metroidvania soulslike with the terrible name. I've been banging my head against a wall with a dual boss that throws bombs and yells "Catch this sh*tface", "Burn b*tch", and "**** you" when lands a melee attack. It's so tonally weird.

It's nothing terrible, but I will say I, with my 1GB ethernet cable, definitely had a little input delay vs. how incredibly smooth the game looks in the trailers. Not enough to deter from my enjoyment of the game and it is in beta so maybe it'll be cleaned up a bit by release, but just something to keep in mind.
I've also only played it on PC so far so no idea how well it runs on console. At any rate, I'm very excited to give it a go again this weekend.

Game is legit awesome. Easy to recommend if you're into the genre, very few complaints, though there is a big one. The combat is floaty. Absolutely zero weight behind the attacks. Sound effects are weak, no feedback in the controller. In a game that's otherwise very polished it's kinda weird how neglected the feel here was.

Re: OT: Video Games/Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos
I've been enjoying the return of Verdansk in Warzone. Not enough to make me itching to play, but it's satisfying my boredom.
Also restarted RDR2 last night. Never got much past the train robbery mission before I lost my save and just said whatever. But I know it's such an amazing game that I have to actually try to beat it now.

I don't understand why they included him as a playable character. He doesn't fit into the Assassins creed formula because stealth with him, while possible, is simply not fun.
FYI - you can clear Wanted with your scouts through the map.

If you've been unhappy with the latest in PoE2 (or PoE2 in general), go play Last Epoch. It's been outstanding - well worth the long wait since last league. They hit it out of the park.

I just wish it wasn't so easy. I've had this game since very early access and difficulty has always been a problem.

Mandragora. Excellent game, IMO.

I think campaign aside it's not a whole lot different than POE1, just less developed in end game. I haven't gotten to endgame in 1.1 or 1.2 (current) yet, but my understanding from others is that the bosses there are at the level of mid-endgame POE1 bosses. I think with more seasons it'll be more developed and there will be more pinacle content with good mechanics and difficulty.
Campaign is an absolute pushover, I agree. I don't tend to mind - ARPGs are cozy games to me, too - but I definitely get it. And I also appreciate (...in theory) the POE2 perspective too. I just don't want LE to be like that.
I do think it'll adjsut, though. There's a solid amount of feedback about how campaign and early endgame feels. Pretty much all there is, though. Everything else about 1.2 is just fantastic so far.
