Amos Barshad: "So you got a job, a place to live, a license? What’s left?"

Giannis: “Nothing. Just get a ring now.”

It sounds like the new MI can't outrun the problem that Dead Reckoning had, which is that a faceless AI is a really stupid villain.

The worst Avengers had this as well. It's just not a good concept unless you do it like Terminator.

Eh, the reason Age of Ultron sucked wasn't cuz of the villain. Spader was great in that. I honestly don't remember a single villain in any of the Mission Impossible movies. I watch them for the stunts/action sequences and I assumed everyone else does as well.

Maybe audiences are too savvy nowadays to sit through self indulgent and formulaic action movies? White knight narrative doesn’t mirror the dream.

The huge over the top stunts in MI don't really don't do much for me, though there are exceptions. The Dubai building climb ruled. So did the HALO drop. Also loved the bathroom fight and the original busting into Langley sequence.

But biking off a mountain, hanging from the side of a plane, mountain climbing, fighting on a train, the helicopter chase...eh.

It's a cosmic balance to Michael Bay's "Skibidi Toilet" movie.

Honestly my only knock is I thought the year long time jumps meant we missed out on being inside the world more and rushed certain things. But otherwise they did a great job setting up the story in Rogue One.
I have the final 3 episodes to go but this show is such an incredible achievement man. It just feels like it's perfectly telling the kind of story Star Wars always wanted to tell and Cassian feels like he's quickly taking a place among the best Star Wars characters ever. Show literally had me tearing up in episode 9.

Ripley really was just stunningly beautiful. Andrew Scott rules also so that helped.

Ringer did good journalism on this one. Love this scene so much. We used to watch it in the roommate's room who had the best AV setup in college.
There's a local place here that's just a dive bar on the first floor with some movie themed cocktails and they have what's basically a living room upstairs with weird couches, church pews, stadium seating, etc. and they show movies up there once or twice a night. Usually cult classic types and each month has a theme but anyways, we went to see the original Final Destination there and man was it fun to have sort of a relaxed theater experience with that movie again. Going to see the new one this week and we're very excited!

I remember Philip Seymour Hoffman being awesome as the villain and Jon Voight in the original but that's probably it.

Anybody catch The Eternaut on Netflix? Argentinian post-apocalyptic series. 6 episodes and renewed for another season. I enjoyed it.

So with The Rehearsal
Spoiler:
Nathan Fielder finds out he's autistic, lies about it to get a pilot's license, claims he's going to expose the lack of communication in the cockpit, doesn't, and that's the show?

The Rehearsal

Spoiler:

Yea that was kind of my takeaway at the end too, that really there was no conclusion. Basically the ending is that he successfully flew a plane with passengers.

I guess you could argue they exposed the lack of communication by airing this show at all, because it does seem he's correct on it. But the flight at the end didn't really prove anything or help it, essentially he would've had to intentionally start messing up and see how the guy responded (obviously that's not safe to do). And the exposing to congress or anyone to make real change really didn't get anywhere either, so really can't expect much impact just from airing 6 episodes without much fanfare/pub/hype.

I suppose its fair to say we don't know if he lied on the autistic. Unless I missed something he had to click the box before the results and they didn't actually show the results just that he got a vmail from the doctor. Still, with how he thinks it would be surprising if he's not on the spectrum in some way. But yea, I thought the ending was a bit of a dud.
