Sure, but he wasn't remotely close to a top 10 player as a rookie. I don't doubt his talent, but I see no way he keeps this up this season.
Still there are a lot of awful big defenders in the NBA right now and it seems like he's figured that out and is punishing them. Don't imagine he'll get 20 points or so in transition every night though.
How many bigs can run the floor in transition with Davis?
He not only has the athletic edge over nearly all centers in the league when it comes to transition offense, he also has the strong desire to race up the court at any possible opportunity, a desire many bigs won't match in wanting to consistently chase him in transition defense. That's going to lead to 6-8 free points or more in many games.
A lot of special players ended up having uneven rookie years and especially guys who left college after only one season, but it's during their second season where their full array of gifts shine much more consistently. Durant was a prime example and i think Davis is going through something similar, even though they are different type of players. He's going to end up being silly good as his game matures over this season and next year.
