New interview of Giannis. As I told you quite a few weeks ago everything is open about Giannis Summer atm.
In this interview (among other interesting things) he said that he wants to go to Rio but first he will talk with the Bucks!

Anyone know if Giannis is leaning towards staying in U.S. this summer to practice?

He personally wants to play with the NT for the Olympics but he said that he will first talk with the Bucks about it.
I think right now the chance is 50-50.
Nobody is pressuring him about playing with the NT this summer though. It will be clearly his decision if he come afterall.
Everybody(the coaches, journalists, fans etc) agree that a Summer full of practice with specialists and/or beside Lebron James etc will be the best thing potentially both for Giannis and his teams Greece/Bucks.

Is FIBA going to get away with banning all these countries from Eurobasket? What is even the purpose of having Eurobasket without them?

I guess if they crush Euroleague forever, that's worth having a Eurobasket that's missing like half it's top teams (from FIBAs perspective).

What I don't get is: apparently a ban could hurt some countries trying to qualify for an Olympic spot? At what point does some country get involved in this and stand up to FIBA? If FIBA ends up costing someone the Olympics, I can't see that being forgotten or forgiven.

Seems to me like they are grossly over playing their hand. Obviously the club system is very different than the NBA, but it is very difficult to see how banning national teams from competition due to the behavior of clubs within those nations will do anything other than backfire horribly. I mean do people even want the BCL?

I agree- the potential to shoot themselves in the foot over this seems way too high. Possibly interfering with a nation's Olympic aspirations makes it even riskier. FIBA itself called this "the nuclear option" so apparently they know the risk.

I know there's a fairly long history of legal battles between the two, apparently FIBA feels it has enough weight to throw around that it can do something like this to put a challenger (and any future challengers) to bed once and for all.

The thought occurs to me that FIBA might be following the example of FIFA for maintaining hegemony and eliminating rivals, and this is kind of thing is part of the playbook. As far as I can tell, FIFA has no real rivals, but they must have had some in the past that they got rid of. Posters who know better please do weigh in and tell me if I'm wrong, or what's going on with this in general. I don't know too much about European basketball, and I know less about FIFA and international soccer.

I am not in "Everybody" ... I disagree .
First of all, I'm Giannis follower since Draft day, his first basket, his first with the starters ... etc, I have watched over 200 Bucks games following Giannis.
So there are some critical questions to answer ...
Do the Bucks have specialists to train Giannis ? I don't think so. They played Giannis all 5 positions, and while he is settled at SF ... boom they go like "Hey Giannis, Jabari can't guard the PF, you guard opponent PF", and while they fail with every single point guard they had... they go like " Hey Giannis, play the PG now..." This is ridiculous. Of course Giannis can play every position but give him a brake, settle him at a position... You will see by December they will leave the PG Giannis again... So I don't see a specific plan by the Bucks for Giannis.
The whole world and Giannis knows he needs to shoot better ... so this is like shooting every day 1000 shots ... He can do that after Greek NT practice. And what if Lebron gets tired and go to Myconos instead of training with Giannis.
What should the Bucks and Giannis do ?
Giannis should go to the Greek NT for the Olympics Quilifying Round. He is a Warrior and he is getting better through hard games.
Bucks should escort Giannis with a coaching staff for personal training through the whole Tournament and preparation.

I made a Giannis season mix that I was pretty happy with but I'm stupid and used music that would and did get copyright muted on Youtube and probably any other big video site, anyone know of a good file hosting site where I can just drop it so people can download it? I'm gonna edit it later to get it on YT but I'd like to get the original up somewhere too.

Great read. Should also be mentioned in the Kidd thread. Or better, it's time for a Kidd poll.

The sheer amount of Batum quotes in this is hilarious to me.

If you credit the songs in your video or tag them you should be good. That's what I used to do and it usually worked

No its the efficiency from hoopstats. I don't know what's the difference with NBA's PER in their algorithme.

Eff = ((Points + Rebounds + Assists + Steals + Blocks) - ((Field goals attempts - Field goals made) + (Free throws attempts - Free throws made) + Turnovers))

Which is really.... nothing
