I see Devin Booker is the new MVP candidate sticking with the anyone but Giannis narrative

And he said a second championship will take him from the top 75 to the top 25. Isn’t he already at 24

Lol, a back-to-back championship run with this team and building a dynasty in Milwaukee would pretty much solidify him as a Top-10 guy ever. People care too much about meaningless longevity. Like we'd need to see him put up 4 more regular seasons of 28/11/6 type stat lines for it to "prove" that he's at that level.

At this rate Gianni could cure Parkinson's and people would still say "Well, if Kyrie were healthy and Durant's foot wasn't on the line..."

Even for the prove it guys we wont have to wait long. At age 32, he will have 11 all-stars, min 2 MVPs, 1 Championship/FMV, DPOY, be in the top 40 in scoring/rebounds, etc. It would be really hard to leave him off the top 15 list at that point. Another ring or MVP and you are definitely in the Top 10 argument but anyone in that argument is worthy and just depends on what you value and which era you are more fond of.

If you vote for Devin freaking Booker for MVP that is grounds for immediate revocation.

He's earned his spot in the conversation. He shouldn't win it but I see no reason why he shouldn't get all the votes from people who vote on the principle of "best player on the best team".

I mean fine, vote him 4th or whatever.

I would say "vastly superior player on the 2nd or 3rd best team" trumps that pretty easily.

Best player on best team is a silly basis for an mvp vote, although I'm aware it's a thing.

"Best player on the best team" has only ever mattered in the MVP race if you're clearly a Top 8 or 10 guy in the league at the bare minimum, and Booker couldn't be further from that. Just beyond weird that fans and media folk have used the excuse of it being a "tight race" as a justification to just throw anybody with a pulse on a Top-6 team into the mix (Curry, Ja, Booker, Mitchell, Tatum). It's a tight race between Jokic and Giannis because both guys are putting up Top-15 statistical seasons of all-time. Anybody else winning it would be an absolute joke, and at this point that includes Embiid.

I feel like he could be a LOT farther from top 10 in the league. He's got a pretty strong argument that he's there. If he's not he's on the cusp. Top 5 for MVP should be Jokic, Giannis, Embiid, Tatum, Booker.

Booker deserves to be in the conversation if we're supposed to care about the conversation around 5th place votes.

When you're the best player on by far the winningest regular season team, you deserve consideration. Does anybody disagree with that?

I'm sure voters will consider his case before voting for other more deserving players.

I know many hands make light work, but at some point, somebody who actually plays for the Suns deserves recognition in light of what they've done to the league this season. I wonder how many 60+ win teams in history didn't have a single 1st team all-NBA guy.

Bud's Hawks made zero all-NBA teams but did have 4 all stars.

I'm sure Booker will make one of the All-NBA teams and he has a chance at 1st team IMO, though if I had to guess I'd say he probably ends up on 2nd team.

I don't think it's dissing him to say he doesn't deserve consideration for winning MVP. He simply hasn't been good enough to deserve votes over the top 3 guys. If people are simply up in arms because he isn't being talked about for 4th or 5th place enough, then whatever I guess.

Yeah it's obviously Giannis, Jokic and maybe Embiid as the true MVP contenders and then it's a drop to the next tier of a few guys.

The recent Booker talk IMO is some of the media who wanted to give CP3 all the credit for the Suns being like 'oh **** they are actually good without him'. So there's a rush to try and praise him.

Booker is also a good example of how when NBA Twitter/media have a take on a guy like him being a losing player they take a long time to change that. People don't like to be wrong. And hell some of the early career takes on Booker weren't even wrong and he's simply got better at some of his weaknesses.

All NBA will be interesting because that's where Booker should get his reward for this season.
