Phantom Liberty gets a skip from me. I'm sure it's great. But I played a little 2.0 and I was pretty annoyed at what got taken away from my level 25 character.

Besides, I might just keep playing Stardew until Lords of the Fallen comes out in three weeks.

I got my iPhone 15 Pro Max today. I normally upgrade every two years on the Apple Upgrade program, but decided to do it sooner this time. Really not a vastly different phone from the 14, but it is noticeably lighter and having a USB-C port is a big plus. Overall I’m pretty happy with it. Now to get my fiancé to upgrade from her iPhone 8…

Yeah, it sounds fantastic. I'll probably be holding off on it for a bit- still having a blast with BG3- but looking forward to eventually getting it.

Yeah I bought Cyberpunk and never really got into it, couldnt hook me it all felt so tedious and poorly made. Maybe ill just back in this winter.

I love old school jrpgs (can't wait for the Suikoden remasters and Eiyuden Chronicle) but one huge gripe I have is how in the modern era, developers will have the backgrounds/environments be massively graphically upgraded while still having 25 year old 2D sprite characters (or vice versa where the characters are updated looking and backgrounds are old style). It's not even that the old style graphics bother me as I literally still will play through older jrpgs on my PS1, it's the total dissonance the 2 art styles have together. It's so grating to the eye IMO. Either the backgrounds should be more 2D art driven or the character models improved upon so they mesh better.

I get why studios don't do it, they don't want to pay someone to hand draw environments when they can be computer generated, but damn it's such a bummer looking at jrpgs these days with such trash graphical juxtaposition that is almost entirely caused by using clashing art styles.

Decided to fire up the old PS3 Emulator to play NCAA Football 14 (I own both, but too lazy to dig it out of my basement) and god I forgot how amazing NCAA Football was back then.

I played it last month with the updated rosters and coaches. Took Wisconsin to back-to-back-to-back titles. Extremely fun.

2k8 college hoops is the goat of college sports games. I had a big emulator phase during the covid times, replayed most of the pokemon series and alot of both college hoops and ncaa.

For the life of me I couldn’t get 2K8 or NCAA 14 to run well at all on my emulator. Was heartbreaking because my Xbox 360 disc drive doesn’t work anymore so I can’t play those games.

I generally dislike sports games but there’s something about NCAA14

I actually think the recruiting in 13 is better. Most folks liked the streamlined recruiting of 14. But I like getting in the weeds and having to pick things more than just “add target” and distribute points. That said, I took UTSA to a 10-2 record, an invite to the Hawaii Bowl, and a top 30 recruiting class in year 1.

Before my 360 finally stopped reading discs, I had created a promotion/relegation system in NCAA so each of the major conferences had a feeder conference and it was such a blast. UTSA ended up becoming a really strong program too if I remember right.

I've had an Nvidia Shield Pro for a couple years but never did anything with it. I think I initially was gonna make it an emulation machine but it eventually got stuck in a closet.

This week I've been playing Stardew from my GOG account, which was annoying because I was playing some at work and some at home. I don't know why I just didn't buy it for Steam half a decade ago.

Anyway I broke down and bought it for Steam, but I still wanted to play on my TV. Enter the Shield. Did some research and it seemed like GeForce Now was an option. Bit the bullet for six months of Ultimate. Fired up Stardew with a wired Xbox One controller and it worked great. Good lord playing Stardew on 4K is something. I can basically see half the map at any given time.

But I wasn't five minutes in before I realized I had Balders Gate 3 in my Steam library. I fired that up and goddamn. It looks so good on the 65" 4K LG tv. Happy that it recognized the gamepad right away.

I have absolutely no idea how to to play it, but I'm anxious to finally see what it's about.

While I have you guys here, what other PC games should I be looking at? I think the last non-Mac PC game I played was Red Alert 2.

I generally think most things are better on PC, and not that I play x game that's only available on PC.

As a Diablo 3 fan, you may want to check out Last Epoch. It's in Early Access, but it's 100% fully playable and has been for almost two years now. What they're still working on is online multiplayer enhancements, a couple classes, endgame, and bringing the older content up to their new content's standard. I haven't played in probably a year or so, but really a great game. No barrier to entry/encyclopedic-like knowledge needed like POE.

I'm shocked at how well it runs. Feels like I have a new console only now I can play everything and also it looks amazing.

I put BG3 down for the night. Tomorrow I'mma look up some non spoiler video guides so I might feel like I have a grasp on the game.

Back to Stardew for the fourth different farm I've started this week.
