Watched the Favre doc over the weekend and knew most/all of the stuff, but man that dude sucks and the power he wields in MS is sickening.

For me what was enlightening was learning the Sterger stuff. Never got into the story in real time so I never realized she never actually met him or was even in the same room with him.

The deadspin guy who bought and broke the story without her consent whilst remaining a cocky prick about it is as scum as it gets.

I'm finally going to rewatch The Wire. I've been meaning to but new stuff always came first. It's only 60 episodes but so damn good.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Saw Friendship with Rudd and Tim Robinson. While I was giddy that Tim got a real movie, his style doesn’t translate to feature length.

One of the big problems is they had a toe dipped in both the buddy comedy thing and the Andy Kaufman thing. Needed to pick a direction and go all in. Was super pumped for the Connor O’Malley cameo though.

I'm really enjoying it. Kind of like Gangs of London but a wee bit more believable.

Doing a bunch of rewatches lately. Started Julia tonight. I don't know why Ted Lasso took off as the feel good go-to of the early 2020s but as far as I know I'm the only one who's ever seen Julia. It was on HBO, had great reviews, and was about a universally loved woman. It's super funny and charming and Sarah Lancashire is amazing. If and when you make it to the end of episode seven, I guarantee you lose it. Your jaw, your tear-ducts, basically everything in your face.

Just a perfect show.

Seconded. Love David Hyde Pierce too.

I’m watching Travelers currently, another great underappreciated show. Three seasons and no clue why they pulled the plug

The doc felt very amateurish. It wasnt focused at all. I thought it was pretty terrible and I dislike favre quite a bit.

The Rehearsal

Spoiler:

Yea that was kind of my takeaway at the end too, that really there was no conclusion. Basically the ending is that he successfully flew a plane with passengers.

I guess you could argue they exposed the lack of communication by airing this show at all, because it does seem he's correct on it. But the flight at the end didn't really prove anything or help it, essentially he would've had to intentionally start messing up and see how the guy responded (obviously that's not safe to do). And the exposing to congress or anyone to make real change really didn't get anywhere either, so really can't expect much impact just from airing 6 episodes without much fanfare/pub/hype.

I suppose its fair to say we don't know if he lied on the autistic. Unless I missed something he had to click the box before the results and they didn't actually show the results just that he got a vmail from the doctor. Still, with how he thinks it would be surprising if he's not on the spectrum in some way. But yea, I thought the ending was a bit of a dud.

I did not know that was the last episode. I was loving the show, but that's super anticlimactic and unfulfilling. Seems like they didn't really know how to end it or didn't have a way to end it.

traveling this week so scrolling channels this morning trying to find espn or whatever and got to CNN. Fielder and the flight expert from the show were on talking about this issue. So I guess there is some attempt to still do something real with it

Went to see the new Final Destination. Absolutely fantastic if you're a fan of the series. Might be my favorite in the series to be honest.

I watched/rewatched the series over the last week and the last 2 are kind of rough (esp 4), so I'm glad they stepped it up with the recent one.

I haven't watched any of them. Recommend that I start from the beginning? They are like horror/gore/action/suspense?

Pretty much just pure gore. Technically horror but not especially scary. Just a series of setpieces that are essentially mousetrap scenarios ending with someone dying in some horrific way.

I think I posted it here a couple weeks ago but the Ringer did an oral history of the opening scene in FD2 and it was a really, really fun read on a very wild sequence.

Not really pure horror and more gore, but mostly in a fun, ridiculous way. I think 1 is legit really good and the first set piece of 2 is a classic. 3 is pretty enjoyable too. The last couple take a step down but are still fun and unserious.

We did the same in my house. #3 was TERRIBLE lol. #4 was pretty bad but at least better than #3. #5 and #2 are the top 2 IMO whatever order you want to put them in.

It certainly is not required viewing; like there's some loose connections that tie the movies together but it's certainly not a tight enough story to really care that much about seeing them in order or anything. They are not really scary at all IMO; purely gore/so ridiculous that it may make you laugh.
