To the Lakers: "hey, I didn't build this **** so you could sit Dwight Howard on a back to back".

I have no problem with what Pop did. He did it on national TV intentionally to protest the joke of a schedule SAS received. I doubt he gives a **** about the fines either. This also impacts nothing in the grand scheme of things, Miami is winning the East by 10+ games.

agreed. popovich saw a game he'd more than likely lose on the road to the heat after a grueling schedule, and decided to give his guys a night off, and a finger to the league by sending them home. figuring hopefully they catch some rest and stay strong going forward. wonder if stern would have been more pissed if they sat on the bench watching the action all game while all the announcers speculated wildly.

Is there anything in the CBA or NBA rule book about this? If not, how does Stern have the authority to fine the Spurs?

Yikes. Hopefully you didn't lay too much, Spurs look like they're going to cover easily. Big lines like that are always a stay away for me.

This is one of the things that really **** me. Chicago were holding out on giving Thibs 4 million a year. anyone could've used the money they were otherwise going to blow on a horrible free agent to upgrade their coach. Coaches are crazy underpaid.

Chuck, Marv and Reggie should do every NBA game.

Not that I know of. How would you enforce it? Would it have been different if they had a healthy DNP but traveled with the team?

That's why this is so ridiculous.

By the way, very entertaining game. Miami just took the lead with 22 to go though :(

Not really going to come in here to defend Stern, because it is against every fiber in my body, but here would be the devil's advocate reasons.

1. The fans, who drive the league, pay to see these guys.
2. I guess this could be affected by some bookie offering him a 50K cut in some of these games. Obviously not true, but those thoughts could sneak in.

Hilarious that the Spurs almost won. You could argue that if just one of the guys they kept out played, they could have won.

Also, how the **** can the NBA do this? And it's not just Stern - the NBA has fined teams in the past for sitting stars. I don't get how this is possible.

Interesting. Do you have examples? I never heard anything about fines for last year's San Antonio rest benchings.

So I am watching the GSW - DEN. What the hell happened to Stephen Curry? He used to be one of the best shooters in the NBA and now he looks like he couldn't hit the broadside of a barn.
