One big question in my mind with all this is whether Wiggins really will end up at SG.

We should take best player available but if we are concerned about how he'd fit with Giannis at SF that would lean me more towards Parker all else equal.

Wiggins' shooting will matter a lot towards those ends come to think of it, especially since Giannis is such a good creator in his own right.

Glad that Ford isn't so concerned about his shot as well.

I think offensive fit is a lot less important than defensive fit. Wiggins is easily athletic enough to guard 1-3 and Giannis can probably guard 1-4.

Wiggins jumpshot will have to show literally 0 improvement otherwise he'll be at worst a 33-35% shooter.

It is being reported the Cavs are NOT promising anyone anything with their 1st. So if Embiid refuses to share medical info and/or won't let our Dr's take a look AND Cleveland goes with Wiggins at 1 I don't know how we could take Embiid at 2. To me that means he is damaged goods and we don't know are left not knowing how bad it is. Which would put the pick at considerable risk. Would we still take Embiid? Do we go with Parker?

I guess Embiid really wants to free fall and take less money.

Chris Mannix put out another Mock today. Haven't seen it anywhere in this thread.

2. Milwaukee Bucks -- Andrew Wiggins, F/G, Kansas freshman, 6-8, 200
There is conflicting information here, with sources indicating that the Bucks like both Wiggins and Jabari Parker -- if Embiid is off the board. The guess here is that they settle on Wiggins, whose ceiling, many executives believe, is slightly higher than Parker's. The rebuilding Bucks need a franchise player, and Wiggins has that potential

Apparently Smart can handle a glock pretty well.

Good thing his shooting percentage is suspect.

The video here is my biggest fear regarding Jabari; bigger than whether or not he can defend:

You can really see what Chad Ford meant when he was talking about how hard Jabari was working in his workout. He appears to be putting in way more effort in these drills than pretty much any other prospect I've seen. I really like that about him.

Just catching up on the Ford speculation.

Wiggins at 2
Gordon at 7

Try to trade Ersan and any other vets.

Go into next season with Wolters, Wiggins, Giannis, Gordon, and Henson as your young starting 5.

Bird was probably the best passing forward of all-time. Jabari isn't even really a passer. Not gonna happen.

Well thats what I mean. I think there IS something going on with his back. Because if the Cavs announce they aren't making any promises and everyone knows it the fact that he wouldn't release them to the #2 pick would be if he REALLY didn't want to be here and/or it showed something his team doesn't want teams to see. I just don't think you can bank on option 1.

OR trade with Philly, for 3,10 (giving them 2,31) giving us 3,7,10. Too much, maybe, but feasible

Every player needs to develop a lot in order to reach their potential. Parker would be no different. He's got the foundation for a really good passing game between the handle and ability to get to spots for the most part. Now he needs to streamline his body more so he can get to spots even more freely, and to top it off by just not trying to be the guy himself because that's what he's accustomed to. If so, his passing game will flourish.

Look at how much different of a passer KD was this year. He averaged 5.5 assists per game. His rookie season it was 2.4. In college he sported an assist percentage of 8.6. Guess what - that's EXACTLY the same as Parker's.

Not gonna happen? Shift that stance to - I guess it could happen.

If we take Parker, Smart is the guy I'd want at #7 as well. I just think Orlando or Utah will probably take him.

What I love about a Parker/Smart infusion into Milwaukee beyond just their potential on the court is that both guys have a certain personality and aura about them that I think can lead to a real culture change. Pair them with Giannis and you have a really really intriguing core, all under 20 years old, all basketball junkies, and all have the fire in their belly. I would trade Sanders/Knight for Smart easily. It's not to say that Smart can't bust, but I would definitely roll the dice on it.

1 - Smart
2 - Middleton
3 - Giannis
4 - Parker
5 - Henson

That is a damn intriguing lineup.

The question is if Smart is not on the board and we take Parker at 2. If we luck into Embiid, I would trade it because we could go a number of different ways at that point.

That would really be a poor defensive team. Teams would run around our guards and bully the crap out of our "bigs".

Steve Nash would take Wiggins first :reporter:.

Smart is probably the best defensive player in the draft other than Embiid. So, regarding the guards, no.

Our bigs would get bullied, but that's alright. Henson can still protect the rim as good as most, and Giannis is about as good a shot blocking 3 you'll find. The Heat just ran Bosh at the 5 and Rashard Lewis at the 4 in an ECF game.

You make up for it by running and gunning. Plus, I'm okay with us having some issues. The key is developing our young players.

I'd despise Smart as my teams starting point guard. You'd definitely need to start him next to Wolters in that scenario to me.
