If JR is in shape and not too high he would fit really well in what we need here and another league min replacement for Brogdon. One ting many people probably didn't notice with the Cavs is that at crunch time of games and playoffs he really was a good defender, probably the best on the team. I recall one game in particular where he was the only one hustling back and trying and they called timeout and he was the one laying into the team for lack of effort. Blew my mind, like I couldn't believe it was the same JR that just chucked 3s and got high for years without caring at all.

Still, who knows what he's been up to the last 16 months and if he's in shape at all.

Wood, I don't think there is a need now that RoLopez is here. They have plenty of bigs now. If somehow they traded Ersan or DJ for a G/wing well then I guess I could see it for depth but right now I think they should have other priorities. And definitely don't need a guaranteed contract locked in on him

I updated the thread title, as the only thing we really have left is Korver watch.

I'm all in on JR Smith, he fits Buds system we need another shooter, sign him.

He is good mates with Kyrie and could easily go play for the Nets.

Smith is now a chucker, not a shooter... Hard pass.

Maybe Wes Matthews has a BroLo level resurgence.

But if that doesn’t happen this offseason is looking underwhelming even if we do close it out with a minor move like bringing in the likes of Korver.

We made two trades during the season last year so there is time. And I by no means think it’s so far fetched we have a more significant move in the offing before the summer is out.

However as it stands we have less overall talent entering a season where a championship is clearly in reach.

I'd say I guess right now we should offer 2-Way deals to Tucker & Bryant.

Guaranteed deal for Colson. And then bring in a vet like Korver, JR, or Johnson.

A pretty underwhelming & disappointing off-season

We were going to bring back the gang again no matter what. Brogdon wasn't going to stay and we turned it into 3 picks, RLo, Wes, and the ability to re-sign Hill. If you ask me that was a pretty decent off-season.

Edit: Don't forget Thanasis

Crowder is younger than Ersan and a better defender / rebounder. He also is more versatile if the Bucks want to play him at backup SF, which matters that much more since RoLo will take up the backup center minutes (and we have DJ at backup PF as well).

Would be a significant shooting downgrade though which we can ill afford.

Windy says he could be on the move if we were interested fwiw:

I think the expectation was to at least keep the talent level intact if not finding creative ways to upgrade. We’re worse. There’s no argument otherwise

Can't read thread title in any voice other than Brian Fantana's.

I like that Crowder's regular season average 3PAr over the past 3 seasons is .570 compared to Ersan's .428. I also like that Crowder is best early in the clock and wide open, which are shots he would find often on this team. Also think Crowder is a guy you could throw at Ben Simmons or Jimmy Butler in the playoffs.

I wouldn't want to give up a pick for him though, and I actually think the Grizzlies would decline to trade Caboclo. So it would probably be Crowder and one of Allen, Melton, or Rabb, if they're into Sterling and would do a trade without receiving a pick.

They also got Bud's guy Taylor Jenkins as their new coach, so that relationship could help facilitate talks.

We're a championship contender and actively decided to get worse. Yeah, that's disappointing. To address the other parts of the post: Brogdon had no choice, if we wanted him he was ours. Everyone else still could have been signed, though Hill would have had to take less, which I'd imagine was doable. We net gained 2 2nd rounds picks.

Malcolm Brogdon would have been a nice signing. Billionaires saving money is good too
