I'm fine with keeping Beas and Midds. We just need the coach to have a backup plan and a quick hook for certain games when we are getting run off the court and they are missing shots/turning it over.

Is Cody Martin worth a flier or is he the Robin Lopez twin version of Caleb Martin and not worth any type of asset? I know Cody has an extensive injury history but when he plays he seems like a good defender and plays within his role similar to his bro. Idk what he’s worth tho? A 2nd? I don’t think I’d cough up that Portland 2nd or swap Marjon for him. Maybe, maybe not. Any thoughts?

I wouldn't trade our limited assets for PJ but if he wants to come back on a buyout, sure. In the very least, seems like he'd be a vibes upgrade. Not really confident I'd want him playing real minutes though.

Agree with pursuing Delon Wright on the cheap as well. There's a few Wizards players I'd gladly take if they're willing to basically just take a 2nd rounder and matching salaries in return.

No way I’m giving the Portland 2nd away for a bench player

A pick in the 30s isn’t worth a good role player we can use to help the perimeter defense and not hurt the offense? I’m not 100% who that player even is but what starter do you think you can get for that pick that’s better than someone like Malik Beasley?

I think the only point of interest would be if PJ is traded elsewhere and bought out. Clippers have a few 2nd-rounders they can send out, but I admittedly don't know what the luxury tax implications are if they buy him out themselves.

This should not even be a conversation, Cody Martin makes $7.5 million, they would need to trade Pat or Bobby to make this happen. Marjon and a 2nd does not work.

I'm with you in that I don't know who the player would be to use the pick to trade for and I'm also with you in not having much reluctance to trade the pick if a decent offer comes along. The Bucks traded a 2030 2nd rounder and cash for the #36 pick in the last draft, right now the Portland pick would be 35

Is Cody Martin a better player than Beasley? Pat? Jae? Andre? Marjon? They are all players with different strengths and weaknesses but it feels like they are all about the same level of player. Its shuffling deck chairs and giving away draft picks for the trouble

When working to acquire a Beasley replacement, Beas should be part of the outgoing package, in a multi team deal.

I think the big difference between Cody and Caleb is Spoelstra. I think Spoelstra could grab a guy from the local Y and turn him into a serviceable nba player.

I think you would find yourself much further ahead if you just stopped posting about Beasley and let the chips fall where they may.

I don’t know if Cody Martin is really even better than Beauchamp to be fair, he’s just a utility knife type of player that seems like he plays good D. Maybe numbers don’t even suggest that I’m not overly familiar with how he’s developed as a pro. I don’t really see him as an upgrade over Beasley but I also don’t really think you’re finding that with Portlands 2nd via trade anyway. Looking to add quality bench depth might be the best option we have to make the roster more playoff ready and we have limited assets in order to do so. Like I said, idk if Cody Martin is a quality role player or JAG. I certainly wouldn’t even entertain trading Bobby for him, Pat probably not either, but I’m not a huge Pat fan so maybe I could be talked into that but that also seems doubtful.

Stein’s report definitely seems notable.

If PJ is bought out it seems like he could be a major upgrade to RoLo or whoever we’d be opening up a roster spot with.

Or if we’d be trading for him the Clippers would be sending out assets as incentive.

Bobby or Pat would need to go to make the salaries work so we’d have to be well compensated. LAC in turn would need to see an upgrade on the court — if picks are the incentive it’d most likely be a multi-team deal.

Clippers do not have much for picks to trade. Would probably need another team to get involved with a trade. I think the only way the Bucks have interest in PJ is if he is bought out.

Players who are bought out are usually in the last year of their deals. They take less money for the rest of the season for the chance to sign with a contender. PJ still has a player option next year for $11.5 million, which at 39 he will surely exercise. He's not going to give up that much up.
