I don't see how Lonzo can ever be a superstar. The only way he's going to be a superstar is the same way Rondo was considered one: By playing with 3 other, better players. Ball benefits so much from having good players around him. If he's the best player on your roster, it's going to be bad. That's not really a knock on Ball though.

Jarret Allen had a solo workout today. Wonder if he got a promise? McKinney said he could be a stretch 4, I was shocked when I heard that

The thing with Ball is that I don't actually disagree with the Jason Kidd comparisons on offense. I just think that if you're drafting him to be a potential franchise superstar, there's got to be something else that you're convinced he can do at an elite/transcendent level just in case he isn't quite the "once in a generation" floor general like the player you're comparing him too. I don't think he has the potential to ever be the defensive player that Kidd was.

I have a fear that Ball is going to end up more along the lines of Denzel Valentine than some of the superstar comps like Kidd. Obviously he's coming in 3 years younger than Valentine so that's huge. But their games were very similar with the talks of the generational vision/passing etc. On Valentine's side he at least had a good looking shot in college with good form. Ball's could be a huge problem in the NBA. Both have so so athleticism and defensive ability imo. Comparable size.

I guess it comes down to I expected a good showing from Valentine this year and I was wrong, so maybe my concerns are a bit irrational but their games seem so similar to me. And of course Valentine is only a year in so he could still pan out, who knows. And I don't think it's being talked about enough that in a PnR league with his form that Ball essentially can't shoot of the dribble.

Yeah, I think projecting him as a potential superstar requires a serious leap of faith in him developing skills he simply doesn't have right now.

He had his solo workout yesterday. Today is Bam Adebayo.

Ford's system's been screwed up for a while. Embiid was a tier above Wiggins and Parker. Towns was a tier above anyone in this class. Any system where they're remotely close is bad.

I've never wanted a player / family to fail more than Lonzo & the Ball family. I'd love to see how many $500 pairs of shoes Lavar can sell when his kid is struggling to get his ugly ass shot off in the NBA and is the 4th best player on the Sacramento Kings.

I don't hate Lonzo, but I cringe at the thought of Lavar's parenting style being validated by his kids success. Feel like the guy is toxic on so many levels.

Hopefully Lonzo is able to assert his independence sooner rather than later.

Yeah, I want to see him in Sacramento more because it would piss off the dad and set a precedent for players not to try pull this type of crap. But with that said, he seems like a decent dude, I just don't happen to think he is near the prospect some people including his dad think he is.

As much as he's in idiot in the media I'm not sure we know enough to judge his parenting. I mean he seems to have 3 kids likely to at least end up with D1 bball scholarships and obviously he's heavily involved in their lives. Let's just say a lot of kids would long for a dad like this compared to what they get instead or don't get one at all...

I actually think his best fit might be the Kings. Their roster is similar in a lot of ways to UCLAs. He could probably even make McLemore good.

I think it is actually a condition called Delusional Sports Parent or something like that. I remember seeing it all the time back when I used to coach soccer, but honestly never to this level. It doesn't mean he is a bad guy or a bad dad, he is just a giant arrogant **** that I don't like and I think will be a distraction over the course of his sons career. So if there is a scenario that lands Lonzo on the Kings, I like that very much, should be very entertaining.

I really hope Andrew can make it in the NBA. I'm extremely skeptical of his chances due to his horrific ball-handling and age, but he's an incredible shooter and I think he's athletic enough to defend on the wing.

I'd pay good money to see Lavar, Vlade & Ranadive try to hash it out in the Kings war room.
