Wes gives us more than semi, hood, and gk, so I'm on board with it. He can still defend on the wing.

Glad we didn't bring back PJ!

Sad part is, Wes is easily the best out of that bunch still.

It's odd. They started the offseason like they wanted to save money but when all is said and done are going to just be paying more to fix their errors.

Did they? It seemed like they only cheaped out on Tucker, who might have priced himself out of what the Bucks felt comfortable paying for someone of his age and limitations. The selling of the pick was completely negated by the Allen trade and eventual extension.

So yes, they did. You answered it yourself.

Tucker ain't a dollar, but they tried to replace a 50 cent piece with a couple pennies and a nickel.

Exactly. Not every move is a major upgrade. But incremental improvements can make a difference. The 9-15 guys are always replaceable.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

The Bucks got better today and lost nothing for their future. More than fine with this. Now go get Bamba

Cheaping out and not feeling comfortable paying a 36yr old $7mil/year for multiple years isn't the same thing.

If the Bucks knew Lopez would get hurt no way do we let Tucker go.

Ownership rolled the dice on Brook’s health thinking that Portis offered up enough depth up front.

Lopez had been an iron man in recent seasons but was obviously getting up there in age. It was a risk that didn’t work out.

Far far more when you factor in the luxury tax. I was fine letting Pj go when I saw the numbers. He served his purpose.

:dontknow:

Isn't the difference between Boogie+Wes over PJ like $25m in cash this year? So yeah it's adding to the Lux tax bill but not comparable to pj, right?

Championships are all too often won at the margins.

Come playoff time everyone would rather have 36 or 37 year old Tucker than the likes of Matthews / Semi / Hood.

Bucks are also going to end up making another move to try to fill the Lopez hole so it’s TBD how much cash our billionaire owners will ultimately end up saving too.

What possible Tucker like replacements could we see being obtainable either through trade or buyout?

I can’t see us trading Brook seeing what he means to the team and city. I could see any of DDV, Hood, Nwora, Semi being traded. DDV/Nwora could get us a decent trade return?

This "go get Bamba" stuff needs to die. We have nothing to deal for him. The big men we should be targeting are guys rotting on benches or who have fallen out of favor that are post hype with upside. Bamba is no longer "post hype" because he's actually producing. Bol Bol is the guy who's probably at the tip top of that mold right now. Kabengele another candidate.

Didn't look like it last season, there's got to be a reason that he only got a handful of minutes on an injured Spurs team that was starting a SF at C.

Yes there was, he had an injured shoulder.

I like him, but center is the last thing we need. We need a forward, badly.

I know you like what Portis has done so far this year, but last year he was barely usable against the nets. They're the team we need to focus 100% on beating.
still learning the game

I forget but there is something with signing vet minimum deals that is either doesn't count against the lux tax or the NBA reimbursing the club for that salary.

Despite them being around 2 million or so, they only count as 1.2ish vs the actual cap. The league pays the overlap.

When put up against PJ, PJ alone was going to cost us in the neighborhood of 26.25. Cousins and Wes combined will cost us 9.

Im not positive they bring back Tucker in that case. Maybe because it was the only feasible option with their cap flexibility. I would assume they would try to go in a different direction. Portis/Tucker is pretty shaky as your bigs.

Boogie, Wes, Semi, Hood and Georgios will hit our cap for $6.2 million this season.
Keeping PJ and punting Georgios to Europe and signing one of the above guys at the vet minimum would have hit our cap for like $7.75 million this season.

LOL. They were either cheap or stupid or both.

I’m not so sure. He’s been inconsistent as a starter for Orlando and they just re-signed WCJ after signing Isaac long term last year to the max. Once he’s back they’re going to have a logjam at the 4/5 with Wagner and Okeke in the mix. Bamba’s QO next year is 10 million and if he gets a raise I’m not sure they want to pay a bench guy that kind of salary.

If Donte can prove to be effective upon his return they may start to listen with a Donte/Nwora package. Really just sucks they don’t have a pick to trade them other than 2nds or another legit prospect. Another time where missing on like 7 straight first rounders or so has come back to bite them.
