Its mind boggling someone as incompetent as Griffin ever became a HC, he may legitimately be the worst coaching hire of all time

Saying that management shouldn’t have presented Griffin as an option is easy to say in hindsight. Some people interview really well. And maybe they presented him as a finalist to try to win favor of Nurse?

You can fault management for presenting him as an option and fault Giannis for fawning over the guy when he was presented as an option. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Going from Griffin to Doc feels like you’ve been in a fight with one hand tied behind your back. You’d love to obtain the aid of a weapon to help but you’re also relieved just to now have both hands.

Hold up, some of you really believe that a hall of fame super star shouldn't have any imput on who coaches his team? That's crazy in any era but especially in today's age of player power. Giannis is far more important than any coach.

We don't know if this was it but if Giannis simply didn't like Nurses personality that's a valid reason not to hire him. **** doesn't work if your best player thinks his coach is a ****.

Very old reference, but I’d look for a Harvey Kuenn effect in that locker room. Guys are just going to be relieved Griff is gone. You’ll see a lot more effort out there.

And that will last until the 5 game west coast trip

Easy to say if you've seen him as a HC. Normally you don't get a job with a contender like the Bucks in your 1st HC gig. Sometimes you do and it works (Kerr).

Griffin advancing to a point of meeting with Giannis is a management failure.

Giannis picking Grif over Nurse is his failure.

For 15 years I've dealt with someone who literally only makes bad decisions. But they sign the paychecks and it's the cost of getting something done. The one truism everyone learns to live by around here is you only present options to them that you can live with, even if all the options aren't ideal. Griffin should never have been on the table.

It's in the thread data. I'm pathetic, but not that pathetic.

This is such an easy sell to the players on refocusing and gearing up for a championship run. They quit because they knew their coach was a moron, they got their way in getting him fired, and now it’s time to put their big boy pants on and prove to everyone else that they were justified in doing so. If they can’t bust their ass and buy into what the new coach is selling for the next 40 games/4 months after all that, then screw them. Get rid of them all.

If Doc completely flops then this roster was never going to win a championship anyways.

That’s a **** reason to not hire someone. What is it about his personality that he doesn’t like? That he’s not buddy buddy with all the players? What a joke. Giannis is an idiot for this.

We could have had one of the best coaches in the league and instead he went to an immediate rival in our conference. We ended up with a terrible coach just because Giannis wanted him, he did a terrible job and got fired halfway through the season. Now we have another mediocre coach (yes he’s better than Griffin, but it would be almost impossible not to be) who is basically a worse version of Bud with his unwillingness to make adjustments in the playoffs. And hilariously, he’s the guy the Sixers fired in favour of Nurse.

Giannis’ opinion on coaching options should be taken much less into account from now on.
still learning the game
