But you don't see it happen in November. I think the Spurs come off in this looking like pansies.

If you want to hate David Stern, there are about 100 other legitimate things to kick him in the teeth on versus this.

You are in the overwhelming minority.

I didn't hear about them doing it back then. And just because you got hit once doesn't mean you let things keep repeating themselves.

I am in the minority on this board. I buy tickets to NBA games.

Jeff Van Gundy is railing against Stern right now. Love it.

pp, this is no different than the Sunday lineups Yost used to put out where Braun, Hardy, Cameron, Weeks etc. would all get a day off on the same day, usually a Sunday day game.

It's just smart... just like when teams do it in baseball or football.

Those guys are old and the Spurs have played a ton of games so far as opposed to the rest of the league. They have a lot of mileage on them and Pop wants them to avoid injury or just wearing out over the course of the year.

That this is something people are upset about or that the Spurs are getting penalized for is ridiculous. So Stern is going to make it against the rules to give 'star players' a DNP? Where do you draw the line? What if he determined Drew Gooden is a 'star' because of the contract that we gave him? Are we going to get fined for putting him on the DNP? Are we now purposefully losing or something?

I guess Pop should lie next time and say they all got food poisoning from bad sushi.

In the last 10 days the Spurs have flown from San Antonio to Boston to Indianapolis to Toronto to Washington DC to Orlando to Miami. Maybe come up with a schedule that makes some **** sense instead of punishing a team for resting their old players at the end of the trip.

Yeah, if a team determines a star performed conduct detrimental to the team are they going to get fined for suspending them for a game?

LOL at what they have in a week from now again. San Antonio to Charlotte to Houston to Utah to Portland to San Antonio. 6 cities in 7 days.

Edit: Their schedule from February 6th - 24th. Minneapolis to Detroit to Brooklyn to Chicago to Cleveland to Sacramento to Los Angeles to Golden State to Phoenix to San Antonio.

It's a pathetic ruling for the league to make and I find it ridiculous that anyone would support it.

And pp saying he's a ticket buyer. So what? If you're a Heat fan would you rather see Duncan, Parker and Ginobili or would you rather (more than likely) get an easier win for your team?

Yea, this has nothing to do with paying fans. Stern's reaction is 100% due to TV sponsors.

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/22 ... _Charlotte

names should stay with the city.

Utah Jazz?, Cause Jazz and Mormons go together.

Charlotte should get Hornets back
NO should get Jazz back
Utah should get Saints. (Pun on NO)

Utah Saints ....I loved that Band
Would make a great theme song.

The NBA has an image to uphold with their sponsors and ticket buyers. We can sit an argue about ways the NBA (primarily Stern) has clouded that image with crap like WWE refs, the lottery, etc. But that still doesn't negate the point here.

If the Spurs coach has a problem with the schedule, then take it up with Stern or go out after Stern in the media on it. Don't mess with the product on the court or damage the brand.

Again this is different then baseball where you go 162 games and players get days off. Or the NFL where guys careers can die on one play due to injury and the last one or two games playoff teams rest starters. Those are common practices accepted by the marketplace.

These NBA games are billed as marquee events and people and sponsors pay for them as such. Other than Popopvich trying this crap last year and a few end of season games in late April, this has not been the trend of the NBA. Accepted practice has not been to give the players nights off.

And if one player needs the night off, then do that. But we all know this particular event was done to send a message related to a personal fight between Popovich and Stern.

I'd argue that the NBA is more of a grind due to the travel. It isn't like baseball where you roll into town and stay for three days. And LOL at the idea that any NBA regular season game is a marquee event. You and I both know the regular season means dick.

I think basketball has the most grueling schedule of all sports, to be honest. I think it's pretty crazy more guys don't get hurt.

Great. 10,000 words saying David Stern is a bad guy and slimeball (and the Woj doesn't like him). I knew that all already.

If I'm Duncan, Manu and Parker, I let Pop bitch about the schedule but I man up to play the Heat.

Yea, you guys love LeBron and hate Woj. Got it. Read this anyway. Some very interesting anecdotes regarding the Knicks.

I'm not going to defend Stern's slimeball business practices over the last 25-years. He is what he is. He's created a WWE type league that for some reason I still follow even though it greatly favors the power markets.

I'm more critiquing the Spurs and Popovich. Because Stern is a jack-wagon doesn't mean Pop needs to be as well.
