emunney wrote:Has anybody done the math on the cap space? How many games through the season do we have to be to sign someone, barring any other salary dumps?

Did the math again, please correct me if I'm wrong:

According to Spotrac we're $441,574 below the Luxury Tax Apron (hard cap)

The NBA started on December 22nd, playoff eligability deadline is April 9th or 108 days after.
The end of the regular season is tentatively scheduled for May 16th so the season length is probably 145 days.
The minimum salary is $1,620,564.

So according to http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q28 the salary for someone signed on the deadline would be:

$1,620,564 x (amount of days remaining = 145-108 = 37) / (season length = 145) = $413,523 so yes, we can sign a player before the playoff eligability deadline.
The earliest we could sign someone is 39 days before season end or two days before the deadline.

So according to this we can indeed sign a minimum guy just before the deadline without making any moves.

Maybe this makes more sense:

MKE: Tucker, Monk, Cousins
CHA: Lopez
HOU: Wilson, Biyombo

At this point of desperation I would prefer Thon Maker over Brook Lopez and I was a fan of Brook in his 1st amazing year ( contract year ). Anyway something the Bucks haven't learned from their mistakes is signing multiyear contracts to role players. There shouldn't be above 2 year contract unless its a superstar max contract. Keeping flexibility is way too important than gambling on a role player to play good in 4 years in row. The most common thing in the NBA is recently signed players to eventually get super lazy till their next contract year, which is super irritating and usually you have to attach a pick to get rid of them.

Don't quote me about Thon. I just mentioned his name to express our desperation for a mobile big. Before mentioning Thon I posted so many times for Vonleh, Kornet (as a Brook replacement), Wood who Bud & Horst didn't like, Hartenstein, and so on). I would have already even started DJ Wilson for the last 15 games since Brook has become a dinosaur

I think Houston will want to squeeze at least something out of Tucker but I like it. Houston saves a lot of salary so their cheap owner will be happy.

I'm liking some of these trades. Wondering if we can't make a move for a legit SG. Beasley is a bad person but he could be a good fit on our team. Maybe something like

https://tradenba.com/trades/slLioAoLp

MIL: Davis, Beasley
MIN: Lopez, Forbes, DJW

Gives us a little breathing room to pick up a buyout guy or 2 plus Min could really use someone like Brook to protect Towns

It's actually a pretty good video. Basically tells us what we all know, that Lopez and Forbes suck and sink our defense and goes in depth why. The NetSuite promo 5 minutes in was by far the best part of the video though.

How about DeMarcus Cousins? Could he be a viable option for us?
