I was on the fence about him playing with Greece this summer but I definitely think it was beneficial. I think offensively was more of his own doing, just putting in work in the weight room and putting up shots in the gym. But defensively, I don't know if it was directly because of FIBA and NT play but his defense looks significantly improved. Idk about everyone else here but I honestly didn't think his defense was that incredible last year, he was a net positive and would show flashes of greatness but at times he was actually pretty poor.

But now he look like an absolute monster. This might be the first year his actual on court impact on defense matches all his potential. Things seem to finally be slowing down for him on that end.

Especially that last game against Spain, he was EVERYWHERE. It was like a 7' 2k myplayer with quickness and stamina padded into the 90s just flying around the court suffocating the other team. I haven't seen anything like what Giannis could do defensively this year since prime KG, maybe prime AK47 too.

He still hasn't given me a hint that he'll ever score 20+ per game ever in his life.. I don't see that in him.. He doesn't have that natural ability imo. But he played well for having a smaller role..

Putting up 15/7/3 on 47% FG post all star break at 20 years old, without 3PT range and still very little plays called for him doesn't make you think he could put up 20+ 5-7 years from now when he likely has a substantially more refined jumper, handle, post game and is probably a featured part of the offense? He's shown more than enough to suggest he could reach that mark. The only two things stopping him from doing it as soon as next year are 1) coaching/opportunity and 2) his 3PT range.

If he played for the 6ers he'd average 20 easy this season. Fact is, they won't need him to score, and he's a generous extra pass making wunderkind, so he won't.

MiltownHawkeye wrote:What is Giannis' final percentage on 3s for the tournament?

3pts 8/21 0 38,1% (2 or 3 attempts at least where halfcourt trying to beat the buzzer)
2pts 17/29 58,6%
= 25/50 50% FG

other averages:
2 Off. Rbds
5 Def.Rbds
1.1 Assist
1 Block
and just 1.1 TO
in 24.3 Minutes

For the new NBA season, I believe that he will have an impressive year , with much better stats, but maybe he will not score an impressive amount of points, not because he can't, but due to the offensive pluralism that the Bucks (I hope) will have this year.

And I wil be very happy with that. I much prefer watching a team, performing much better as a whole, than having a player doing everything and when his teamates get the ball you pray to pass it back to him (like our NT recently  )

Cheers,

Guys to become a better winner and clutch performer, two traits that are hugely important for a player in a championship level team like the future Bucks, you have to be tested as many times as possible in extremely pressured situations. You can't improved that **** in either training or summer league, o preseason games and the games that involve that kind of thing(DO OR DIE) in regular season are extremely rare. The only games that helped Giannis improve his performance and experience in huge situations were the final games of regular season when we fought for the 6th place and ofcourse the playoff series with the Bulls. As the Bucks are growing the playoff spot will become even more easier and the regular season games we lose even more of their meaning.

It's a huge plus for Giannis (and the Bucks eventually) to have more serious chances in his career to improve as player. Don't be too surpriced in the future if the most consistent player for the Bucks in playoff series is Giannis when the years are passing and he's gaining more experience from games like the Bulls but also from the final stages of Nation Competitions like the recent game with Spain.

Kevin Durant and K. Irving had tremendous competitions with Team USA right before their serious NBA breakout. This could also happen for Giannis in the Olympics and thats why Greece should beat Latvia in a few hours and also the next team and secure a spot for the qualifying games next year.

If we get with the Bulls again this year i get the feeling we will knock the out of the playoffs.
The NT as we saw helped Giannis a lot on his defensive end and gave him the opportunity to "test" his shooting under pressure and important games which made him have more confidence about his shooting overall.
Today i think we gonna see another great game by Giannis and after than he will return to the Bucks.

P.S When does the training camp starts?

I am pretty sure I am correct. The game is in France which has CET (Central European time, currently UTC +2)
Wisconsin is on CT (UTC -5) . so 16:00 (4pm) - 7 hours = 09:00 am CT

Giannis is the most naturally talented scorer on the team, though. I say he probably leads the team in scoring in the 2017-2018 season, or at least is in the top two with Jabari.
