He just regressed badly least season & hasn't been able to simplify his offensive game which is a general issue.

He rates out poorly in advanced D stats because while he is good on ball on wings, he gets roasted by quick guards and gets completely lost in rotations.

That's not true he gets roasted by quick guards. He's quite good at it for a 3 even. That's who he'd be guarding primarily.

He had good d-ratings w/ the Lakers when he wasn't a top 2 scoring option. They were almost 10 pts better than Trent (who some want to play 3) around that time w/ Portland. Obviously 1 gets a skewed perspective about his game in a # areas just looking at last yr.

With NAW and Kennard coming in, I wonder if we could scoop up Krejci.

So are we done now? Hopefully, we can sign one more wing. But I doubt we sign anybody that’s going to be in our eight or nine man rotation

Someone tell me what he does that makes him better than Rollins? I'm not even looking to debate, just curious what I'm missing.

Who thinks he's better than Rollins? Maybe I missed the posts.

I was skimming this thread yesterday and there were some posts about it. I don't recall who said it though.

If it weren’t for the insider whispers about a Kuzma trade making their way here I’d think Horst would be pretty satisfied with where the team’s at.

See how Point Giannis flanked by Turner and surrounded by shooters works.

Play the young guys and see who develops.

Then we have time before the deadline (and buyout market) to make another move with Kuzma’s soon to be ending contract more clearly in view.

Whatever we do don’t panic and trade the 2031 first for a non-needle mover:

PG: KPJ, Anthony
SG: Green, Rollins, Harris
SF: GTJ, Prince, Ajax, Thanasis
PF: Giannis, Kuzma, Smith
C: Turner, Bobby, Sims

Hellyeah. He's the perfect opposite of Kuzma. Makes 3s and shots at the rim but doesn't look to score. He can really pass. He has a fully functional brain.

If we were paying a guy $5 million a year to shoot 28% from 3, we'd definitely be looking to dump him.

It seems like every good team nowadays has a sparkplug scoring guard. Clearly Sears wasn’t going to work out so here we are. I like the fact that he’s got a lot of athleticism. Just need an athletic small forward and I’m ready to ride or die.

no...

I'm choosing to believe the recent inside info as it aligns with exactly what the team needs.

we wouldnt be paying him 5 million to shoot 28% from 3 anymore than we pay giannis 50 million to shoot 28% from 3.

at 5 mil a year we'd just ask him to stop shooting 3's. at what he makes he should not shoot 3's. not sure i even understand your comment

Why would the starting lineup change from the end of last year, especially when 3 of those starters are the 3 players Doc is predicting as breakout players?

My only question is who will be the top backup to Trent and Green? We need one, badly.

jimmybones wrote:Hoping this is more proof they’re going to go 3 guard lineups most of the time. The grouping of KPJ, Green, Trent, Rollins and Anthony is pretty versatile and you can pretty much play any combination of 3 of them together.

Anthony is the only PG only guy, KPJ and Rollins can both play off ball and their length and quickness are perfectly fine defending as a 2 guard, Green and Trent are capable of covering that 3rd guard/hybrid SF spot in the modern NBA.

I’d love that perfect on paper textbook SF to be acquired as much as the next guy but until that happens, I’m pretty excited to see 3 of those guards playing with 2 of Giannis, Turner, Bobby or Sims

Harris and Prince are old man vet depth

As the team currently sits, I’m hoping the player rotation during the regular season looks something like this:

PG: Porter, Rollins, Anthony | [Jackson]
SG: Trent, Green, Rollins, Porter | [Harris/Jackson]
SF: Prince, Kuzma, Green, Trent | [Harris/Jackson/Thanasis?]
PF: Giannis, Bobby, Kuzma | [Smith/Thanasis?]
C: Turner, Giannis, Sims | [Smith]

Deep Bench:

Gary Harris
Jackson
Smith
Thanasis(?)

With a rotational minute breakdown that looks something like this:

Giannis = 32 min
‪Turner = 32‬
Trent = 26
‪Bobby = 26
‪Green = 26
Porter = 24
‪Rollins = 24
‪Prince = 15 (or 20 or 10)
‪Anthony = 15
‪Kuzma = 15 (or 5)
Sims = 5
Harris = 0 (or 15 or 10 or 5)

If the Bucks aren’t able to trade Kyle Kuzma prior to the season’s start, including potentially in a package that may feature Jackson &/or draft picks, for a clear upgrade at SF (no panic trades w/ the ‘31 1st) then look to the trade deadline where those same assets as well as Cole Anthony & maybe Gary Harris could be packaged too towards an improvement there.

In the meantime, I sure hope Kuzma is getting himself into the best shape of his life. And working extremely hard to improve the reliability of his corner-3 & free throw shots as well as his defensive footwork. Beyond that, I hope the Bucks are looking to have him set screens & roll to the basket more when he’s at the top of the key & run baseline cuts from the corner-3 spots when his defender’s attention gets pulled elsewhere.

He can't shoot midrange or at the rim either. Not a good passer or team concept defender. Why would we want him?

I’d like to add Alex Burks or Amir Coffey for added depth at SF or stash a developmental SF like Caleb Houstan or Brandon Boston Jr.

If none of those, then maybe consider developmental depth at PF/C like Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, Kia Jones, & Bol Bol or get a big guy who could potentially take some physical banging in a pinch like Alex Len.

Lastly of course, is adding bench hype-man Thanasis.

Really only 2 trades I'm interested at this point.

Kuzma for RJ or Demar. Not willing to give up any assets but I do like their fit on the current roster and their higher salary next year. Gives us more trade salary if we do pair it at the deadline or summer with the picks that are left.
