I think they're trying to clear a roster spot and would drop Skal for a pick. I still don't believe in Skal as a player even though he's got NBA tools and skills. No feel.

Wonder if they'd do Justin Jackson and Koufos for Snell.

Still think their best option is going to be cutting Richardson.

He isn’t even close in defense or high post passing to Zaza and aside from 14 games of Plumlee two years ago what % ofpnr offense have we run? Gortat is ok but he isn’t a step up from what we have he’s sideways at best offensively and backwards on D

Gortat/Henson
Henson/Maker

Sideways?

Again I'd consider Dieng a negative contract but I do like his fit here. He also might be able to develope a 3-pointer.

Ringer just wrote an article how they should be interested in moving a big for a wing.

came here to propose the same exact deal. Gortat, even in his age would have been the best C we had since Sanders' magical season. IIRC he leads the league in screen assists and is a solid rebounder and finisher around the rim, plus he expires next year.
In comparison, Snell is a below-average wing who get 10+M/year until '21 to be a non-factor most of the nights, aka a bad deal as I had been clamoring since that extension took place.

I'd take it and run, and maybe I would ask for a bit more; Grunfeld loves to give away picks

He's not a negative on the defensive end when he's on the court (0.8 points per 100 better). Think we need to stop overrating how "good" Zaza was as defender. The only thing that Zaza has/had on Gortat is the relatively overrated skill of high post passing from the center position. Gortat even at 33-34 is a much better finisher/athlete, and can pop that mid-range jumper (43.5% from 10-16 ft). Dude can absolutely level guys as a screen-setter. We need a big bruiser/intimidator like him on the roster.

I brought up love+ for midds+ and cavs fans wanted nothing to do with it. Said IT was who they wanted gone and if they trade love, it'll be to blow it up

They can trade Love, and not blow it up. Something like Love for Paul George would make sense for both sides.

I'd do it from our end I think. Why would the Wiz though when they already have big deals to Beal and Porter? Porter is basically what we want Snell to be basketballwise, just massively overpaid.

Yep.

It's a similar deal to Snell and more of a position of need I suppose. However, I still think we can get that hustle big for much cheaper and it's not like we have an abundance of shooting. So I'd probably hold off and see how a real NBA coach can find a way to use a top 3 pt shooter in the league.

Here's the thread on the Wizards board with some Gortat to the Bucks discussion:

viewtopic.php?f=35&t=1594355&p=62523677#p62523677

Few perspective from Wizards fans:

dangermouse wrote:My opinion: Gortat is done (with the Wizards). A change in scenery would benefit him. I dont know whether its the org, or a player(s), or him, or a combination of these three, but something is going on and he hasnt been playing well for a few weeks.

When he is engaged he is a great pick and roll guy. Not so much a pick and pop guy but can hit shots in the paint. Lauded as one of the best screeners in the league and leads the league in screen assists. Other end of the floor, he is average to pretty good.

Dark Faze wrote:Very interesting. Gortat is not done. I think your team has the pieces to mostly cover for most of his issues as you have better defenders. We cannot take on much in terms of years or salary so Teletovic is the only piece that would really make it work. No thanks on Vaughn. Would have to think hard about your second this year vs Maker. I'd have to think long and hard about it, but either way I'd love this deal.

If we are talking playoff level basketball I don’t think that Gortat is a starting caliber center. He’s a very good back up but not a starter. Just like JV in Toronto has needed Biyombo and Ibaka, I would target a Dedmon etc that is a better defender than Henson as our starting center and then if we have that guy and you want to dump Henson to grab a Gortat or a KOQ to be a more offensive back up then fine. I would gravitate towards Zeller who is more Swiss Army knife
