Escape from Tarkov is pretty addicting and I haven't even evacuated before dying yet.

AGDQ is going on right now on Twitch. This guy is speedrunning the entire Fallout series. He's at 4 with an hour left of his two hour run.

Re: OT: Video Game Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos Thread
I tried with Witcher 3 but gave up a few hours in. It was boring the hell out of me, tbh. Perhaps I'll have to reconsider later on, but at least I only spend $15 on it instead of full price.
That's the biggest change in my gaming habits over the years. I used to feel the need to get every new game that was highly rated/popular. That lead to a backlog of wasted money. Now, I stay in my lane with gaming purchases - sticking to stuff I know I'll love - and, if not outright ignoring, at least waiting out some other well-reviewed games until they go on sale.

That's pretty much my philosophy with everything now - video games, books, movies, shows. Why spend precious time on stuff that is just okay when there is sure to be other content that I would find to be great or extraordinary?
I think it's a byproduct of having kids a few years ago...free time for me is a lot harder to come by.

I just got a 6L, ilvl 100 vaal regalia from The Void and, although I already have one, I think this is the coolest RNG thing to happen to me in POE thus far. So I wanted to share with someone, and it's still not quite cool enough for a Reddit post. So Matt, Magic - this is for you guys

Re: OT: Video Game Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos Thread
For those with a gaming laptop I'm looking for advice. I'm thinking I'll pull the trigger shortly on one. I'm prepared that the battery life when gaming is short (I've seen about 2 hours), which I'm fine with, but was curious what others got? I'm also stuck between two options, do I spend an extra $400-500 and future proof it? Below are what I'm looking at:
MSI 1660Ti for $949
MSI 1660Ti for $999
MSI 2070 for $1349
Or, if you have a completely different one you'd recommend in the $1000-$1500 let me know. I'd like to future proof it as far out as possible. My current desktop is going on 3 years old and works really well.

I've had it in my library for over a year now, I really should start one day soon. What difficulty would you recommend?

Honestly, I played the game more for the story than I did for the combat, so I played through on easy. The combat doesn't get measurably more difficult because oils and preparation can really make any fight pretty trivial, but I didn't want to invest more time than I knew I already was going to in going through the game itself.

At the upper levels you actually have to pay attention to the beast lore and what they're weak against, though. Have the right potions and use the right signs. On easy mode you can just hack and slash. Not saying that's a bad way to play, though. It's how I went through my first time around.

Thanks for the feedback. When I was younger and had more time I loved the challenge of playing everything on hard and really challenging myself. As I’m older now with family work and various youth programs I find myself lowering difficulties (sports games excluded) so that I can experience the story. I’m not going on easy as I still appreciate some sort of challenge but I don’t want to grind having to study guides or his a certain button combo at the exact moment. I just have heard witcher is best played on certain difficulties. TBH I’m not even sure what I’m getting into I bought it solely because I heard it was so highly rated and one of the best all time.

I have the GS65 and love it - save for the wifi card or driver isn't working right now

Re: OT: Video Game Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos Thread
I beat Witcher 3 and while I really enjoyed it, it has next to no replayability for me. I purchased Skyrim Remastered over the holidays for $20 and while playing through it a 2nd time, I realized why the Witcher felt a little bit lacking. I'm not usually a big magic/medieval fantasy gamer, but outside of the main story which was kinda meh, Skyrim is pretty much superior to Witcher 3 in every way for me. The customization, combat, inventory system, world map, and role-playing element are just better. TW3 was still a good game, but it just wasn't Skyrim.

One thing you can't do with TW3 is skip the side stuff. It's where the real game actually is.

I have the GS65 and love it - save for the wifi card or driver isn't working right nowThat aside, I would highly recommend the machine. With this one, though, you pay a premium for the form factor. I'm sure the cooling isn't as good, either (though it certainly isn't bad). If you don't mind having a bulkier laptop, I'd recommend the one with the 2070 if reviews are good. Though it's probably only slightly more future-proofed than a 1660 Ti - right?
You are correct in the slight future proof, and after looking into it more I can't believe I missed that the display is 1080p, so the 1660Ti should be able to handle anything at that rez. I think I'll go with the cheaper one.

Re: OT: Video Game Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos Thread
Terraria has gotten me out of a month+ gaming rut. I've got two different worlds going, one on a Mac and another on the Switch. It took me a minute to get ahold of the Switch controls. Inventory management is a bit of a problem too. But goddamn, I haven't played this since 2017 and the game has added an absurd amount of content. I could play this for 1000 hours and not see everything.

Re: OT: Video Game Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos Thread
I never understand why people consider speed runs legit when half the time they're just exploiting game mechanics and glitches. Saw a guy doing Skyrim on Twitch and all he did was load and reload saves for like 10 straight minutes. Seems like there should be some set of unwritten rules against that kind of stuff.
