I had hoped some people would come around and what's been a bit of a lazy narrative. 23rd defensive rating was never indicative. For one, KD/Harden/Claxton all missed half the season. Thats out 2 best defenders and our best rebounder (Harden). Throw in that teams scored 115+ in games we won by double digits skews it a bit too. not really worried about giving up 115-120 if you cruised to 130.
The really telling stats were what I posted in the other thread:
-6th in opponent FG%
-7th in opponent eFG%
-9th in opponent FT rate
Nets force teams to take a lot of inefficient shots. Switch everything to help reduce open corner/wing threes, and bait teams into trying to score inside, which will never be more efficient then Kyrie/KD scoring.
The Nets ability to force missed shots is quite good. Teams got their high scoring efficiency due to how many points we allowed of turnovers and how many points we allowed on second chances.
More focus helps the turnovers... and you saw it in regular season games vs top teams. Nets turnovers where down and their D was solid. Rebounding will continue to be an issue with harden out and going small but with more intensity we can limit that a bit too..
