Game day (football) I never leave regent. Rocky’s lot ftw.

Used to frequent the old Luckys for badger Saturday’s religiously. I don’t like the new Sconnie Bar. And I also find I’m an old fart if I go back. I really like the Regent St Retreat. No idea what it’s called now.

I used to live near the Plaza and I still like to stop in there for a burger. And the Parthenon

I’m old enough to remember Luckys as The Oakcrest. Went there after Park won the state championship with John Clay to celebrate with a yard of beer.

Though, I’m sure Mickey is old enough to remember it as several other things.

Left the Plaza at bar close with a group of friends one night and one was walking with a weird stiff leg limp. We get about a half block away and he pulls out a pool cue that he shoved down his pant leg and up into his shirt.

College kids are dumb.

It's the Red Zone and I don't care for it. RSR was low key a great live music venue. Saw Spoon, Hold Steady and a bunch of others there. What happened to RSR are is basically the sequel of when Buck's on the square became Buckingham's on Regent. Damn shame is all I can say.

Lucky's is a real nice addition and is my pregame choice if I'm out and drinking prior to games. Big Ten's food is reliably great. Goofy set-up inside, though.

Wandos had the quarter cans of old style/blatz/schlitz/ or whatever with free deep fried bacon on Thursday (?) nights. That was always crazy.

Brothers (where I worked) had 10 cent wings and 5 dollar buckets of high life on Wednesday. Also a solid value.

And of course, $2 pitcher for FAC at the original Madhatters and Brothers. That’s where I met my wife.

My favorite wing sever were those Brothers wednesday night ones. Never found a similar sauce anywhere else as good. Seemed like it was kind of a mix of buffalo and ranch, not really sure but it was good. Everything you said here were staples of mine too in college. Our goal for FAC was usually the upstairs round corner table by the window at Brothers.

Post college, I'm a regent st guy mostly because I lived in that area in college so have known a lot of the Jordan's workers forever, plus my primary reason for going to campus these days are games. Jordan's food is always good and service/friendliness is top notch. That area while still collegy, it feels less so than the State/Johnson St type ones to me.

Hot:
1/4 whirl popcorn butter
1/2 Frank’s
1/4 buttermilk ranch

Mild:
1/4 whirl popcorn butter
1/4 Frank’s
1/2 buttermilk ranch

I think that was it

I actually really like the new Lucky’s. You can actually move around but you better beat the line or you’ll be waiting a bit.

Otherwise I go to the tailgate right across from 7/11. Usually when I’m with my dad and bro as it’s more low key.

Correcting myself, it was Parmesan Peppercorn ranch, and there was a bit less whirl butter, maybe 15-20%.

I lived on the Stadium end of campus for the last 2 years of school after we got displaced from the Capitol area due to fire (that's a story for another time) but if you're over there and undergrad, Lucky's was kind of the default spot for weekend drinking. It was fun, but I'm pretty sure the owner (early 50s as a guess?) owned it simply to hit on college girls drunkenly and creepily.

I have been back a handful of times but as I get older I'm going to have to pick a pregame spot, I guess.

Red Shed as discussed generally had giant long island deals?

I did bacon night a fair amount at Wandos.

There was a point where we did Monday's a lot simply for the insanity that was the pour on their drinks. Very weird crowd that was a combo of the coastie contingent and also a dive contingent given that the bar was a pretty big dive inside.

Jesus, I'm old. There was a place on Gilman in the early 90s (I wanna say Schooner Tap or something like that) that had 10 cent taps every Thursday. Absolutely **** faced for $3. Good times.

We were in school roughly the same time and my friends and I used to say the same thing about that owner at Lucky's. Not sure how he'd hold up in the current me too type world, haha. Definite creeper vibes.

If you haven't been back in a while. The Lucky's you're thinking of is now called Sconnie and it's run/owned by the same people as Jordan's. The new Lucky's (not sure if that creeper is involved is a new construction across from Jordan's, was that old car shop I believe. IDK if that creeper owner is involved, there was some kind of spat among owners and from what I gather the ahole one got to keep/use that name for the new spot (I assumed it was the creeper out out my own prejudice).

For football gameday, these are still the spots to be (Jordan's, Sconnie, new Luckys). Along with Rocky's parking lot. Rockey's actually took over Greenbush Bakery too, but with no games last year not sure how that changes layout, etc. Greenbush is now under the Regent St apartment by that subway that's been there forever.

Rockys is the best forever and always. Though, losing Greenbush certainly hurt. Apple fritters back in the day we’re choice to start with.

Jordan’s gets the UW band to stop, but I can hear that across the street.

One contended is the afore mentioned regent street retreat (whatever it’s called now). Super cheap, strong drinks from what I can remember.

Always loved Rocky’s. I go to the one near Am Fam field whenever I’m in the area.

Greenbush just moved across the street to a larger space.
