Yep. He had one good year, after two injury plagued seasons. And while he was a really interesting scorer, it wasn't like he was a great all-around great player.

Unless the guy is an all-star (then you max him immediately) or he agrees to a decent extension in exchange for financial security, you should always let your RFA's play it out, to prove themselves one more year at least.

We made that mistake with Larry Sanders and Henson if I recall. Both guys had RFA status, and while we didn't max them, they got at the time pretty big extensions given their play to date.

Yeah the Henson and Sanders deals were early too, but it made some sense in that there was a possibility they both have a great follow up year and get a bag....Clearly that didn't happen. With Porter though they just gave him the max amount they could early to be nice to a guy that no one was sure was that good. He's also crazy and incredibly injury prone. When does Jokic ask out?

Larry Sanders!?!?! OMG! At the end of this season, it looks like Horst will finally have cleaned up Hammond's mess! No more Larry on payroll!  (I've been counting the years on this and then we finally won a chip and I stopped checking).

That's a Larry Harris mess, sir.

JV is just the logical evolution from Brook now that he made the 3 a key part of his game. Fits into his salary slot too.

I've been calling for JV for years, he's quietly extended his range (and overall game) for the past several seasons. Sadly, I don't think we have the assets to get him now.

Why would JV be available?

I don't normally care much about non Bucks regular season games but I'm looking forward to Warriors/Suns tonight.

Memphis was very foolish to trade him basically for a big who hasn't developed a 3. Until they did that, I thought their management group was doing everything right. And JJJ hasn't developed like I thought he would - wonder if they make him available.

Good reminder. Thanks! I'm the same, I'll put a game on in the background here and there, but I might actually sit down and watch this one.

I think they tried to bottom out but their core is just too good. That said they trades an expiring JV, him signing that extension and now out playing that makes him much more valuable now than when traded.

Time to give our buddy David Griffin a ring. Trading for his players has paid off in the past.

Not now but there's a good chance he will be in a year or 2 when the NOP have to rebuild.

Will be interesting how many games he misses. The Lakers can't afford to lose any more now with the inevitable Davis injury coming in January.

Knicks fans taking over Barclays is hilarious. This after Steph got deafening MVP chants there a couple weeks ago. Nets have such a garbage fanbase.
