If you’re trading for a guy making $22.5 million, going after Harrison Barnes makes a lot more sense.

We need an athletic 3/4 that can space the floor & switch defensively — he’s a perfect fit.

Why not Wiggins, if that is what you're looking for?
Khris Middleton - Beating up on Trash Can Teams since 1943. Invisible Man status otherwise.

I don’t really like any of the names/ideas being thrown about. I’d rather keep our first and run it back hopefully with a better ring chaser or two in free agency.

Agreed, chase a few minimum guys, ideally younger guys looking for prove it type one year deals like a Josh Jackson, Troy Brown, Bol Bol, etc. Draft a kid that is nba ready and can play both ways, and go after undrafted shooters. Maybe use the MLE on Hartenstein. Resign Carter, Bobby, and Pat and let’s go.

Off-season plan should be as followed and be worked from top to bottom:

Are there a game changing talent available and can we bring them in?
The only top player available seems to be Rudy Gobert. What would a trade look like? Is it worth giving up a core player? Who else might become available?

Who's available that would improve our starting lineup and what would it take to bring them in?
Jerami Grant, John Collins, OG Anunoby, Malcolm Brogdon and Jonathan Isaac. All but Brogdon & Isaac would take a core player to bring in so for that reason I'm out. As for Brogdon, it really depends what a deal would look like. As for Isaac, there's off court issues.

What holes do we have and how can we fill them?
  • Better ball handling option than Giannis/Jrue/Middleton - There's probably none out there, maybe CP3, deal looks impossible
  • 6'5 to 6'8 wing player - Available players depend on bigger trades happening around the league, but players like either Bogdanovic, Hart, Brooks, KCP, Thybulle, OPJ (tax MLE)
  • Good players available that don't really fit, but may be cheap enough that it makes sense? - Who, what would a deal look like?
  • Backup point guard better than Hill - Melton? Other potential targets in FA
  • Generally add more talent - Draft, trade, FA, where's the value?

So you’re saying we should definitely bring back Ersan

If the guy could just stay healthy, I'd say Grayson/Hill and #24 works.

I'm still fixated on Middleton for Barnes and #4. But would do that Bogdan deal as a fallback.

Nope. He proved he is an average defense 6th man in Atlanta and that was before knee surgery. Wouldn’t touch his overpaid deal now.

Barnes
Justin Holliday
Terence Davis

for Middleton works in the trade checker. :D

I guess if you’re convinced Ivey is Dipo or Westbrook with a good 3pt but we would have to find a volume 3pt player, maybe Procida at #24

Not sure if trading for 4 would be one of the worst trades in the teams history or an insanely shrewd move that extends the championship window by 10+ years.

Has there ever been a report about Sac wanting Middleton? Ive seen it mentioned here forever but was curious if it's just this board or from an actual rumor.

Sac is Sac and does weird **** so not saying they wouldn't want him. Just curious.

No rumor, just Sac looking for a win now player and we have one. But Sac wouldn't be trading Barnes with #4 in any Middleton deal (and they kinda need to because of salary matching) so it's a moot point.

They gotta give up Barnes don't they? It's either him, Fox, or Sabonis and the latter two aren't happening.

Not getting any win now player without his salary. So no idea what they are planning if they don't want to trade him

They can comfortably match for win now players in the 20-30m range without trading Barnes. Not that there are many worthy of the 4th pick (that's why there are no concrete rumors), but in theory that's what they're looking for. Basically another Sabonis (in terms of salary).

They should trade for Miles Turner :)
