Is Beauchamp way more athletic than those guys? Seems like we really valued that with the choice.

Man, I'm just not sure about this. I really wanted the Bucks to pick a guy at #24 who had no weaknesses in his game.

My take with him is basically, you hope for guys that can defend, create shots, and or catch and shoot. At 24, you’re mostly looking at guys that can do one or two at most. Beauchamp has done all 3 for significant stretches of time, but never at the same time. He mostly torched people inside in high school while not shooting the 3 well or defending well. In college he was good inside and out but still didn’t defend. This year, he was good inside and defensively but couldn’t shoot.

Maybe he’ll never totally put it together but he offers potential to do all 3 that you don’t normally get at the end of the first round IMO.

+1

Finally someone who's done some homework on the pick. He shot 40% on his 3s as a Freshman, so he has some type of shot. He should be fine.

He's a tough kid with good athleticism and length- damn that is gonna be nice to have on the wing.

Also like that he's not a teenager. He'll be 21 when the season starts. It wont take three years for him to contribute.

Both are true. There is reason to be pessimistic on his shot because he has never shot high percentage from range on high volume. But there is also reason to be optimistic on his shot because as I watch footage, its not ghastly. Its not a Michael Kidd Gilcrist situation or anything. No reason he can’t get to a passable 3PS sooner than later.

I mean i've never seen Beauchamp play outside of some highlight videos. Like everyone else, the Bucks see what the NBA is becoming now and the are looking at a switchable wing who has good size with heart eyes. It just confused me when people reacted like they couldn't understand why they would pick a guy like that.

Have to say it again: Having legitimate length & athleticism at the wing is something we’ve been missing for a loooong time.

6-6 with a 7-0 wingspan at the 2 spot & definitely reminds me of Mikal Bridges’ build.

Assuming we bring back Wes & Grayson, I think he’ll be able to play himself into the rotation sooner rather than later — unless he’s a IQ guy like Nwora.

I think he sees the floor immediately. Defense lets people stick.

Maybe but someone that can't dribble, shoot or make plays for others doesn't seem like the best fit w/ Giannis on the floor.

Think we drafted MarJon Beauchamp, The Man more than MarJon Beauchamp, The Player, but also he fulfulls a physical archetype that we just don't have on this roster (and haven't for a while): long, lean, smooth wing athlete.

Man, I am so desperate to get some IQ and passing on this team.

Probably more athletic than Liddell and Washington, but Wendell Moore is a legit athlete with length and probably does everything better than Beauchamp offensively.

Not the sexiest pick, but he is a corner 3 away from being a rotational guy. You can work with that with the 24th pick.

Problem is his ceiling is a PJ replacement.

It was a 12 game sample size in community college. I sure hope you're right, but let's not overstate things either.

The Ignite don't work on shooting, all of their guys shot poorly because of it. They do learn to defend there, move without the ball, rebound. Don't put too much stock in those shooting percentages.

Also, they play all road games. How do most players look as shooters in road games only?

Gives us a lot of what DDV gave us the first few years. The bigger size and finishing around the rim will be a plus.
