I don’t argue another person’s opinion. A great man once said “we’ll, that’s like.. your opinion man.” But I can’t understand how any person wouldn’t have “Shawshank Redemption” in their top 100.

Steven King at his (non horror) best.

Two dynamic performances (Robbins, Freeman).

Conflict and tension with a satisfying ending.

Just a masterpiece.

You're never not going to find something to argue about with a top 100 list. I do think "Forrest Gump" is still an affecting movie, but it indeed has become a very popular target on film twitter for celebrating conservatism or some such nonsense. At the very least it's better than "Starship Troopers" and I like that movie. I have to admit it's quite funny to see "Shakespeare in Love" one spot higher that "Saving Private Ryan" since that's always a popular Oscars-got-it-wrong choice, even though I've always preferred the former. "The Thin Red Line" should have won that year and would be in my own personal top 10 in all likelihood. Lots of good movies here, nothing I disliked.

There are also a glut of classic 90s comedies missing but that's to be expected.

Yeah any list without Shawshank isn't worth a click.

Side note: My favorite Tarantino movie is the one he sold and didn't direct, True Romance. Very underappreciated movie.

Random ones I'd probably have on there.

My Cousin Vinny
Se7en
Point Break
Beauty and the Beast
A Few Good Men
Speed
Scream
The Fugitive
Good Will Hunting
Dazed and Confused
Pretty Woman
The Sandlot
The Usual Suspects
A League of Their Own

Good list.

Radom thought…

MLB opened last year’s “Field of Dreams game” with Costner walking out of the corn in to the outfield. Chills.

MLB opened this year’s “Field of Dreams game” with Ken Griffey Jr and his dad playing catch.

There is still a way those can be topped, next year. Light off a sh** ton of fireworks in the sky and have the cast of “Sandlot” out there playing.

That would be such an awesome nod to an all time great baseball movie moment.

Speaking of A League of Their Own, I liked the new Amazon series. But hoooo boy I'm sure it's pissing off a lot of the people who you see review bomb the usual targets.

Resident Lillard truther since 2015.

Any list without the Crippled Maters is a complete sham. Two men skilled in the arts of Kung-Fu are betrayed by their master and crippled for life, one left with no arms and the other with no legs. Despite their obvious disadvantages, they learn to combine their martial arts skills and seek revenge against the evil master. And yes, the one with no legs rides (in a basket) on the back of the one with no arms.

Here we are, last episode of BCS. It picked up last week after a couple slow episodes. Should be nuts.

For last week. One observation:
Spoiler:
Wexler is a beast.

Carrol Burnett using her Life Alert to rat out Gene was pretty epic and Stuart from BBT as the cancer guy was a hoot for me. But, the difference was Wexler. No Wexler for two episodes and they were pretty bland compared to what was going on before that. She returns and the show rocks.

It just isn't BCS without Kim Wexler.

Seven was my immediate “how the hell did they miss this” movie reading through that list.

I didn't realize Amazon Prime Video did live channels. I've got AMC+ and I was just curious if Saul's episode would be available tonight, but it's going live right now. So that's cool.

Enjoyed it as much if not more on second viewing that the first. Maybe a lot of it is being a parent with a similar age child going through their own struggles, as most late teens early 20s do. It is so freaking stupid at times while being more emotionally deep and impactful than 95% if the "earnest" dramas. And the action rocked. And Jamie Lee Curtis as an accountant. And Short Round. And the wonderful Michelle Yeoh.

To each their own, but they did the whole Multiverse thing 100x better than Marvel or anyone else has, IMO.

BCS

Spoiler:
Series finales are tough because no matter how it ends some people are going to be disappointed/ticked off. I thought Peter Gould did a good job, I enjoyed it.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Ron Swanson wrote:Pulp Fiction might honestly be the most overrated movie of all-time IMO. Tarantino's best 90's movie (Reservoir Dogs) wasn't even included. Really weird list and I'm not even one to overly criticize these types of things. Reads like they just tasked it to some hipster intern who would be offended if you call them movies instead of "film". But I guess that's the joke. IndieWire is basically just a parody of itself.

The list seems under-Britished as well. Love me some Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and I'm sure there's others (Holy Crap Trainspotting?) that deserve to be in there.

I’m with Weekapaug on this one. It was a good movie but wasn’t great relative to the hype. But as you say, to each their own.

I really liked the first season, but the second was way too confusing. Never went back after that. I don't want to have to work that hard to watch a tv show.

It was just an absolute delight for me. Had a smile on my face at all the crazy and corny stuff they threw in there (like the Story of a Girl lyrics). Ended up renting it a second time because I enjoyed it so much. Probably my 2nd favorite movie of the year behind only Top Gun.

If you lost interest during Season 1, I probably wouldn't bother with it. Season 4 has been a return to almost as good as Season 1 was, but Season 1 was still comfortably the peak.

“Lost” was the first show that suggested you could have an ever richer experience than just viewing; you could surf the web and find fake websites and blog your secret theories and delight in other fan’s ideas.

“Westworld” was the show that said, let’s do that times 50!

LOL, my experience was like yours. At the point when we were told the (main) characters we thought we were watching were actually other (main) characters.. I tapped out. Just too hard to follow in one viewing, and I don’t have time to rewatch every episode after every big revelation.
