Re: Bud Fired
It would be kind of funny if Budenholzer replaced Kidd a second time.

Re: Bud Fired
Had to be done.
And yet I hope everyone is prepared for the possibility (probability?) that the next coach will fare even worse

Really dreading the Bucks hire one guy to serve as HC/GM (or Pres, etc)

Re: Bud Fired
Bud is one of the best HC in bucks history.
He's also a good guy and a good coach who brought winning program and winning culture to milwaukee.
Very professional and good person. He had his faults, but overall he did get us a ring and it was brilliant. Something I will cherish forever.
Thanks Bud.
Good era, good coach.
I do get it was time, and I'm thankful the FO realized it.
Doesn't make the whole thing a little sad.
Thanks Bud, and best to your family.

Yep. I'm 57 and it's crossed so much off of my bucket list. Championship. Going to a finals game, an MVP on my favorite team.Ryan5UW wrote:Thanks for everything Bud, that ring will be one of the best sports memories of my life.

I feel like those days are over, no? Wisconsin learned its lesson with Sleepy Sherman.

If there was any chance of getting Brad Stevens that would be great -------- now that unfortunately Bud is gone.

I'm sure it won't stay this way for long, but it's pretty crazy that all three championship coaches between Ws titles are out of work. 2, 3, and 4 years ago.

Re: Bud Fired
Respect to Bud for bringing structure, professionalism, stability, and maturity to this organization after the utter nonsense that Kidd subjected everyone to for years. Hope he takes a year off, he’s been through some **** and has earned some time to reset a bit. Seems like a great dude and hope he finds success wherever he goes next.

Re: Bud Fired
The reality is that the Bucks will end up with a new coach that has been less successful than Budenholzer. Less accomplished over the last five seasons. Fewer games won. Fewer playoff games won. Few playoff series won.
I don't think Budenholzer gets enough credit for player development. He took a 10 year veteran in Brook Lopez and revolutionized his game on both ends of the floor. He took a 3 year veteran in Pat Connaughton who had showed little promise in Portland and turned him into a solid role player on a contender. He took a directionless Bobby Portis and developed him into a solid bench scorer and double double machine. He took Giannis, Middleton and Holiday and coached them to the best years of their careers. His coaching got more out of those veterans than any of us had a right to expect. And no other coach has done so much developing in 5 years as Budenholzer.
Still, I think the coaching change was the right move. The Bucks were in it to win titles and they weren't. Giannis is a perishable commodity who will be gone before we know it. Holding on another season would have been irresponsible. Another approach is warranted, even though it is quite unlikely that the next coach will bring more winning to Milwaukee than Bud did.

Wonder if Bud ends up with one of the possible soon to be open jobs. Phi, Phx, or Denver.

I squandered an asset? Then Hammond taught me well.

Re: Bud Appreciation Thread
Wish him all the best. He was superior to Kidd in every way, but we badly need a new approach. I would've preferred Horst getting fired if someone had to go.
I feel good about this. We absolutely cannot continue to waste any more prime Giannis years and running it back would've sent a horrible message. We were regressing, plus somehow getting older and slower while our rivals are leaving us in the dust. Hopefully there's more to come.

Channel 6 website
With a roster featuring two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, Budenholzer’s Bucks soared to heights the franchise hadn’t reached since Wilt Chamberlain was wearing a Milwaukee uniform in the early 1970s.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: Bud Appreciation Thread
bud was a milwaukee buck treasure in his own right. i dont think a new coach will win as much with giannis and i gaurantee a new coach wont win as much without him. i sense the future for us is the future i experienced in my childhood after nelson left.
so im not just bummd by this im actually a bit pissed. this was the wrong move imo. obviously i hope im wrong but i feel it in my bones that we just effed up royally..

To be fair, not many coaches get a chance to start a gig with a superstar generational athlete just entering his prime years. Nurse also did quite well the only time he got to coach a superstar.
