His loss. No ring for him.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

The optimist view is that you could throw a high school coach out there and Dame/Giannis/Middleton/Brook + shooters should be an autopilot Top-5 offense. Ultimately, Stotts won't/shouldn't be the reason whether we get back to the Finals. It's all on Griffin and how he constructs the defense now.

Let me think. Who do we know who knows the Terry Stotts offense and might be available?

That’s my anxiety. I go to worst case scenario and my worse case scenario is that AG is going to ruin my favorite thing in the world lol.
I get that for sure because the first time coach thing could bite us in the end but I think we have to wait for actual reasons to criticize Griffin, not invent them out of thin air.

Guessing the offense is going to be a lot of Giannis post ups and Dame isos.

I don’t think the environment shifting is exactly nothing, though. I may have overstated it, but we don’t know what it could become. We know that he players are on board as of now, which is great…but things like this happening early in the season matter, and they could be an indictment on the culture being built.

Hey all, yeah this feels weird even without details. A seasoned pro doesn't just up and quit a week before the season starts. We know it's not Dame given their relationship. I've read through this thread about that one time Stotts getting GA's attention but I have a hard time believing GA would react a certain kind of harsh way about it unless there's way more behind the scenes we don't know.
If Stotts was a FO hire to keep things on the level with a rookie HC it may have been a power play by the latter, a long time assistant getting his first shot. I don't happen to trust who he learned from most recently. Even though AG started as a Bucks assistant, it's a different culture now.
If AG is a GA approved/desired hire, then Bucks have to live with whatever is going on for however it takes to play out before things come to a head. And they will.
Now to the point about Becky Hammon. She was in the final round of interviews for Portland HC. Despite whatever was getting leaked about prospective HC candidates back then, the owner really liked her but Dame's seal of approval went to Billups and here they are.
It'll be interesting to see how things play out now with GA's guy in and Dame's guy out.
Hope that whatever's going on gets dealt with quickly. Can't have it hanging around like a rotten smell on any team, let alone one intending to compete at the highest level. Good luck.

This is terrifying. If we hired a buffoon that fails to maximize an elite asset like Lillard I will stop watching sports

I wonder if Horst was surprised or if he was expecting something like this was brewing.
For Stotts to suddenly leave, something must have obviously happened. We just don’t know what yet.

Re: Stotts Steps Down
Through this point on the job I'm not sure how anyone can be positive about Griffin without it being just blind optimism and just hoping he's knowing what he's doing. If Griff was the coach of Philly or Boston right now while saying the things he's said and losing his #2 before the season we'd all be ripping him and glad it wasn't us

Can't wait to blame Coach Williams for Giannis getting blocked.

People who automatically think this way generally are toxic in their own right.
There would need to be some serious dysfunction for Stotts to step down so soon.

Griffin has yet to coach one game. Anyone positive about him is blind optimism and anyone negative about him is blind pessimism.
Or we can wait to see some actual results (shrug).

Re: Stotts Steps Down
It's hard for me to believe that two experienced NBA lifers would differ about whether the offensive spotlight should be on Giannis or Dame.
What we have here is potentially the greatest PnR combo since Karl Malone and John Stockton, and you don't need decades in the NBA to see it.

Re: Stotts Steps Down
Wow. This is completely out of left field.
I would imagine it is either personal or philosophical differences. Griffin/Stotts was a forced marriage from what I gather, which isn't usually the best way to assemble a staff. That said, Griff absolutely needs an offensive-minded vet in his ear, preferably one with HC experience to help with the game management stuff as well. AG is way too green to turn loose without one, IMO. Is Prunty sufficient enough? I don't feel good about that.
This is likely a blow to Dame's morale too, which isn't great, Bob. Dame seemed so thrilled to be running Terry's system again. Giannis seemed completely on board with being the screener as often as necessary. Anxious to learn more.

Re: Stotts Steps Down
I would have to think there is something within the Dame-AG-Stotts relationship that AG or Stotts didn't like. That's the huge change between when Stotts took the job and now

Starting a guy who got benched in the playoffs, changing the role of the DPOY running up, losing your #2 on the job are all pretty negative things imo.
