Last year.

He got traded.

Well that got spun around on me fast. Before that was it like 35 years? Did we have another fringe All Star PG? Sam Cassel make 1?

Jrue was a fringe AS for his whole career. NBA did a good job finally recognizing him. Dame isn't fringe - he's a dynamo. Make it work around Dame and Giannis -- it might be a long time b4 we get 2 guys this talented again -- even adding in Dame's rough games.

Keeps a spot open for a buyout guy, and there's your 8-9 man playoff rotation:

Dame
Beasley/Grimes
Middleton/DFS/Pat
Giannis/Crowder
Brook

Wow. Since when do Knicks and Nets fans make proposals on the Bucks board?

The vast majority of these posters are trying to spam this board by proposing trades that only help the other teams they support, not the Bucks.

These aren't serious suggestions.

RoLo, calling up Wenyen Gabriel, and just going smaller more often will all do in a pinch.

Yeah, we did. And we looked horrible on defense until Brook came back. No thanks to that.

You guys seem to be confusing the intent of this post. You're losing Bobby in this situation, not Brook.

Ahh, gotcha. Didn’t read carefully enough.

Just for fun, going to take another swing at a 4 team deal. Still leaves us Pat and Bobby to move in a 2:1 deal

SAC: Lopez1, Lopez 2, ?
BKN: Heurter, ?
GSW: Middleton, ?
MKE: DFS, Wiggins, Looney, Royce Oneal, Javale McGee

Sac seems like a legit C is a need, we could route Beasley there to make that part work if needed.
Brooklyn saves some money and probably has some kind of picks coming to them from other teams
Golden State gets Midds to make another run and gets out of Wiggins deal. I do suspect that team has gotten dysfunctional and if that change of scenery gets Wiggins back to where he was this is a home run albeit with a lot of risk.

We get younger, more defenders, albeit lose a ton of offense with this deal but I think it rounds us out

PG: Dame, Cam, Green
SG: Beasley, Pat, Marjon
SF: Wiggins, O'Neal, AJJ
PF: Giannis, DFS, Jae
C: Looney, McGee

Bobby and Pat could be kept or used to grease the skids in getting some of these other deals done. Maybe Bobby and Pat for Norm Powell and some other assets?

He seems better as someone clogging the lane or helping. I think he would've done a better job on Butler, but I'm not positive of that...especially when injured.

He's got enough length to bother anyone. We saw him clamp down Butler back during the title run. Butler was on fire throughout the playoffs, and Giannis was injured, so there isn't much to say about last season. But assuming he's healthy, even if guys blow by him, he has enough length to meaningfully catch up and contest.
Giannis is a very good one on one defender.... but he's still more valuable as a god damn boogie man waiting to embarrass you as a help defender.

Using Giannis purely as a help defender is a luxury, though. We don't have anyone who can guard the POA.

I love this type of deal because its a complete shake up, much more exciting than keeping old, slow, boring ass players like Middleton and Lopez on the team. Maybe if Brook got a regular haircut I could be talked into keeping him as he is a big body, but as others have mentioned I'd rather go younger and more athletic there...

That's basically one trade, but I split it in two not to make it huge.

Trade 1a

Bucks in Ayton, OKC future 1st
Bucks out Lopez, Pat, Robin, 2024 POR SRP

Oklahoma in Lopez, Robin
Oklahoma out Bertans, Poku, future 1st

Portland in Bertans, Pat, Poku, 2024 SRP
Portland out Ayton

Trade 1b

Bucks in Murray
Bucks out Bobby, MarJon, OKC future 1st

Dallas in Bobby
Dallas out Williams, future 1st

Atlanta in Williams, MarJon, OKC and DAL future 1sts
Atlanta out Murray

Lillard.......Payne
Murray.......Beasley.......Green
Middleton...AJJ...........Thanasis
Giannis......Crowder......Livingston
Ayton

As someone who's watched a lot of Ayton the past 6 years i can confidently say he would be the most infuriating player this board has ever experienced.

It might be worth it just for the content.

Some smart team will trade for Ayton the summer of 25, hell play hard for a year because he'll want a new contact. Smart team will get that year from him then let him walk and steal money from his next team.

This is situational. Just playing free safety allowing him to protect the rim, jump passing lanes, & create havoc: 1st all-nba defender. Specific rotation responsibilities to shooters? He sucks. He's the James Harden of defense. Poor perimeter defenders requiring more of a team approach magnifies his weaknesses.

I think something overlooked or overdone (depending on which way you're looking at it) is the emphasis on guarding your man one on one. Don't get me wrong, having on ball skills is a plus and advantage when you do. But this isn't the 1960s where you just guard your guy the whole time. The key to NBA defenses these days is teamwork, cohesion, communication, effort, and having a team plan or system in place. The rules make hounding a ball handler extremely difficult and offensive players are ridiculous these days.

In addition, the O always has ball screens and switches to get teams off one on ones to create space/gaps, especially in the playoffs when they really gameplan. And yea this is what makes Giannis so good as he can switch all 5, due to his freakness he can play more free safety and not get burned on it, can sag lane more since he can get out quicker, etc. Basically he can be there to cover up the gaps of others and cover more ground in screen situations than almost anyone. I guess I'm just saying its all about a team D moreso than this old school "you got Joe, I got Mike, etc now just man up and cover your guy".

MKE: Dejounte, Wes Matthews, Aaron Wiggins, Kobe Bufkin

OKC: Portis, AJ Griffin, Andre Jackson Jr, 2024 2nd (via POR)

ATL: Bertans, Connaughton, Beauchamp, Payne, 2024 1st (via LAC), 2025 1st (via MIA), 2026 2nd (via OKC)

Enough for ATL? Two late 1sts and a 2nd?

Would OKC give up these picks for Portis, Griffin, and AJJ (effectively a small move down from the 2024 LAC 1st to the 2024 Por 2nd + a late 2025 1st and a 2026 2nd)?
