I like this pick. Expect him to be good especially for a second rounder.

And it remains to be seen in Jovic is even going to be a rotational player after multiple years in the league…

Good thing Bogo is better.

Don’t we already have Bobby though?

Bobby will be playing 34 minutes a game at center.

At 47 you’re just looking for a guy who checks the boxes of an NBA player. Markovic has intriguing skill set and was graded higher, already productive at 19. Cautiously optimistic!

I actually think Horst’s biggest strength relative to broad GM expectations has been his drafting in the latter half of the 2nd round.

From 2017, when he started, to 2022 I counted at a glance 16 legitimate nba players who earned 2nd contracts, and 2 of those were Horst picks.

That also doesn’t include Rollins, who he didn’t draft but identified later and who was the 44th pick, so technically outside the scope of my search by 1 position, and AJ Green who was an UDFA.

I’d say he’s done quite well for himself identifying these players. Us using the talent he’s acquired is a different discussion, and one he doesn’t grade out quite as well, though.

Also, bring him over now. I don’t really buy into the efficacy of stashing players.

They don’t get to compete against the best in the world, you don’t get to directly involve yourself in their development daily, and they aren’t getting the same weight room and PT work.

Draft twitter concensus of 156 big boards placed him at 30th best prospect

He played guard until he had a growth spurt at around 16yo.
I would love to see him get some backup minutes at the small forward spot in his first year. Just until he gets stronger.
Stashing him to a team in europe that uses him as a 4/5 may not be so good for his development.

Also this development path makes it easier to be on the floor with Giannis (not hard to imagine he could end up shooting better than Kuzma).

Probably flying him down to Greece as we speak. Nothing like the beaches in the Aegean.

- If we wanna take a wild swing at the next Serbian superstar, Bogoljub Markovic looks like he can do a bit of everything (shoot, pass, get to the line).

- Tyrese Proctor still feels like a guy who has good NBA potential. 6'5 guard with decent length and flamethrower shooting ability.

- There's a dude named "Dink" in this draft class, so there's that...

All part of the grand plan to eventually get Jokic here. You heard it from your boi first.

Do we? I don’t think it is a slam dunk (pun intended) Bobby is here this year or next. Also not sure if the plan is to wait a year to bring him over.

But my actual point is there is an archetype Horst has been trying to fill for years and this seems to be another swing at that. This could also be a sign that Giannis might be at the point where they expect him to play the 5 to close games and wanting a 4 that can stretch the defense. All that to say, I have no idea what we have here, just trying to read between the lines.

I'm usually blindly super optimistic about our second-round picks, so I'm gonna try something new and call this guy a bust. Hopefully that works.

Wait. Can second round picks be busts? Whatever. You know what I mean.
