pat/wiIson/augustin/ddv for oIidipo works. gives us a pretty good 5 on paper :D want to see ddv this year first before id entertain such a thing tho 8-)

I wouldn't trade for Oladipo. We need a sharpshooter.

not my favorite either. just the point being that crew makes 21 miIIion... add portis its 24 miIIion....add forbes its 26 miIIion....add Iopez its Iike 40 miIIion. we stiII have options. prorated midseason pickups/vet mins/2nd rounders/2 way guys to fiII out the roster. pIayoffs are about your top 7-8. you go get the taIent at the top anyway you can

There are not a lot of players that 1. are similar caliber to middleton 2. fit salary wise 3. we have the assets to obtain 4. fit our needs. Who do you have in mind?

Alternatively, we could add assets to Middleton to try to upgrade him. I would rather do this, but I can't think of a trade that works for this either...
still learning the game

There’s no scenario for oladipo that makes sense unless you’re including Lopez. I don’t think that’s a good scenario.

a simiIar package to what was offered for bogdan stiII exists on this roster without Iopez.....and we know our team was wiIIng on that one. add the whispers of our interest and oIidipo goofing off with giannis in greece and i dont see how you can say that. its fIat out dependent on what kind of depth wed have Ieft over because i think ddv aIone wouId be enough vaIue coming back in their eyes

Aren’t we hard capped? How would one of these 4 for 1 Oladipo trades work with filling out the roster

Yep, and with unlikely bonuses factored in we are just slightly (~$582k) below the apron right now. So not only can we take back more than we send out, as you said we also need to be able to meet roster number minimums after a trade is made all while staying under the apron. Because we just HAAAAD to use the BAE for Bobby Portis.

Everything I have read about Jrue talks about what a great teammate he is, and how he will work with other players and help teach/mentor a bit. What is not being talked about is how big this may be for Donte and his development.

A compilation from the Up In Smoke podcast discussing most slept on players in the NBA, warning there is some language.

Maybe Jrue's mentality can be rubbed off on a couple of others.

please dont edit my posts.

Someone should start a new thread since this thread has clearly run its course, as its now time to talk about Jrue Holiday the Buck, not Jrue Holiday the acquisition

With the Bogdan situation and the contract extension for Giannis, I feel like the Jrue trade has has not gotten the appreciation that it deserved.

Jrue signs a max contract with us too I assume? It’s too late in his career to turn that money down

I have a question for a better capologist than me. I read the CBA a few years ago but I only remember the major points and I still get the new rules confused with old ones sometimes. Does Jrue have to wait until next summer to be eligible for a 5-year deal like the one Khris got? I distinctly recall Khris having to wait until summer so he could officially exercise his opt-out before signing his new deal. However, that was due at least in part to limitations on how much of a raise he could get when extending during the season, and I'm not sure it has anything to do with how many years he could add to his current deal. Jrue won't command the same percentage raise that Khris did simply because he's already making nearly $26m (Khris made $13m in the last year of his previous deal).

Jrue technically still has a player option for next season, so I think there are at least some limitations on his extension options, even though it's assumed he will opt out and seek a new max contract or extension. Having his Bird Rights means only the Bucks can offer him 5 years, but I don't know if they can do that now.

Whats great about the Jrue trade is it moved our postseason needle. Yes, it gutted our depth and may mean we arent a 60 win pace team anymore. Boo hoo.

Heres the thing: when you factor in all possible moves over the next three seasons and player development, this is the worst we will be. It will only get better.

1. We have one more needle moving trade we can make with DDV and Brook. Or... DDV gets better and we keep him. Or.. ddv plateaus and we keep him. Two out of three aint bad

2. Buyout season. Another Marvin type would help a lot.

3. Offseason ring chaser fa's. With, theoretically, our big 3 locked up, we are a no brainer destination for these types even more so than we have been.
