We saw Hayward decline a ridiculous guaranteed year only to resign a massive deal with a new team. We have players, agents and teams pulling bull non stop for years, and we are the team that gets pinched?

The real funny example is that the Bogdanovic deal fell apart largely because the Atlanta Hawks also illegally negotiated a contract with him. Windhorst discussed this on a podcast before the teams were even allowed to negotiate yet that Bogdanovic was getting a 4/$72 mil deal and said he had to be careful about how he said it so that the team wouldn't get in trouble but that it may or may not be the Hawks offering it to him lol.

For those keeping score at home:

Bucks and Kings play it above board (discussed with each other first), but other teams accuse them of tampering after Woj jumps the gun, teams get strong-armed off the deal by the NBA, then one team (???) gets punished for a thing that didn't happen.

I'm just going to assume it was Riley that called the league whining like a bitch so I can hate the Heat even more than I already do. Dominate those **** this year. Hawks too just for the hell of it. And Woj is blackballed.

So, I believe Woj made an "honest" mistake in that he knows better than to word things the way he did - he's very much incentivized to protect his sources, and he blew it here. I wonder how significant and lasting the damage will be for him.

Agreed on the penalty sanctioned, but it's the principal of the matter that screams unbelievable hypocrisy and blatant league strong arming of a small market team. Not that proof in 2020 was needed the NBA favors the big markets, but this cements the uphill battle the small market teams have to be competitive, much less ring chase.

I could see the penalty if they actually signed him, but they didn't. This is an absurd penalty - when everyone does the same thing - with the exception of getting caught. The Bucks have evidence that Giannis was tampered with, and there likely won't even be any penalties. Has the NBA even asked for the evidence that has been reported many times? Probably not. They only care if people get caught by the media. Otherwise, keep it quiet. Then they turn into Seargent Schulz; they know nothing!

I'm not the least surprised. This league has always been and continues to be sleazy.

It's not just that we lost the pick, but it's the principle and also we lost Bogdan. It's more than just a pick.

Yeah it's dumb on multiple levels. Feels like they are singling out the bucks yet a 2nd is such a bs little penalty it doesn't actually make other teams stop. Pretty pointless all around.

As I've said before if the league really wants to stop tampering they need to fine or even suspend the agents.

This should have been a massive fine instead, take it out of AL's allowance.

Because I’m extremely petty. I’d either ban Woj from the team or purposely feed him lies to make him look bad

The penalty is ridiculous but it's far more worrying that our organization is an absolute clown show that keeps pissing away assets for fun.

Maybe the NBA is picking on us, but I find it far more likely that our transgression was so blatant that ignoring it would have made the rules even more of a farce than they already are.

I'm not a huge Woj fan for a bunch of reasons, and I think the damage has been done here, but it's wild to think this could be what sinks him. It's plausible that he didn't consider how this could be a problem given all indications are that the Bucks and Kings played this pretty straight.

The only explanation I can come up with for how the league has gone about this, is that they took umbrage with the Bucks carrying themselves like it was a stone cold lock instead of the verbal agreement it technically was. Perhaps they directly contacted Bogdan after the agreements were in place, but before the deadline?

I don't think that's petty at all. I like the feeding him lies, take every opportunity to make him look like the supreme douche he is. Unfortunately the powers that be aren't savvy enough to pull anything like that off.

But the large market teams are allowed to make a mockery of the rules.
