One thing that was really interesting about when Horst came in was that he seemed to have a very clear idea of who he wanted around him and almost nobody was kept from the old player personnel team. Maybe those guys themselves didn't want to be around, but Horst had the freedom to build his staff and I think only Dave Dean was kept, and he went to the Herd. Newton, Bollero, Bollier, Mincberg, and I think all the scouts -- all Horst hires.

Pretty clear from that pod that Lasry is who we think he is, and he isn't really interested in hiding it. He more or less says what he thinks, which does make for a good interview. When he starts talking about the season ticket stuff he can't help but come off as a stereotypical greedy owner, openly pondering how to gouge the fans for the most money he can get. I think he does trust Horst and Bud to handle the basketball stuff but you can sense that he also can't help but to meddle and feel like he needs to get his two cents in.

On the Lasry podcast, he talked about what good character guys they have. I do give Hammond some legacy credit there, passed on to Horst. By and large Hammond tried to avoid the problem guys, save for the Capt. Jack situation and maybe some Monta/Redick stuff.

That said, Sanders was such a outlier. He was so good for that one year, and he impacted wins bigtime. Then got paid and it all fell apart overnight.

Although no local writer has had the guts to really document things, you can make a case that the team got where there are today when Edens stepped in during that May/June 2017 period.

Hard to believe it's been 7 years already since they bought the team. Edens will return to the throne in 3 years (assuming the ownership group stays intact).
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Felt like he went out of his way to prop up Horst a lot during the interview.

Meh, I don't buy the culture **** with Hammond. With his biggest splashes he constantly added guys who did nothing for "culture". Richard Jefferson, Monta Ellis, Stephen Jackson, JJ Redick, Samuel Dalembert, Corey Maggette, Greg Monroe, Jason Kidd +. He tried to right his sinking ship with a few Jerry Stackhouse's and Jason Terry's here and there but meh.

I thought Kidd was forced on him by Lasry.

You could remove a couple for whatever reasons you want and the pattern is still there. Culture starts from the top and when you're constantly brining in "top" guys who just straight up don't benefit your culture you got a long ways to go before Steve Novak saves it.

But again, I do not buy that they're losing money.

Can't prove it but I suspect they're making or made a bunch on the side from real estate, from the development of the areas surrounding the new arena. I remember reading somewhere they had bought land and/or buildings through some other business, so this wouldn't be included in the Bucks valuation (as it shouldn't). I reckon Pat C is also maybe in it with his building business.

Also I don't know how the arena itself is factored into the Bucks ownership, if at all. I think team valuations exclude RE.

In any event **** them, even if they're losing money right now. It's our job as fans to ask for more, and they should be prepared to pay if they want to be showing off their championship team to their buddies.

Amended. If I have any agenda on this board, it is too make sure we don't forget how much Sanders screwed us over. He abused his dogs, broke his hand getting in bar fights months after signing a huge contract with a pregnant wife at home, punched teammates, and constantly violated team rules. We are still literally paying for it.

Horst has a type. Hopefully we don't have to give him Bogdan's contract.

The fact we inexplicably won the title with DDV in a walking boot, while specifically withstanding Bogdan with the Hawks in the ECF was really an amazing thing. We need to celebrate those circumstances more.

And now Horst may have acquired a much cheaper and younger facsimile with Grayson.

Think if the Grayson Allen move pans out, would cement Horst's status in the upper echelon of GM's.
