Spider-Man 2 is both incredibly good with loads of stuff to do, and also too damn long. It's a superhero blockbuster with a great story, but I very much want to get to the finish line, particularly because I'm watching NBA games and the commercials are flat out spoiling it with scenes and characters I haven't come upon after 20 hours of playing.

I've been under the impression PoE is a typical party-based RPG, but I keep hearing talk about the league....BMatt07 wrote:Finally got around to playing Path of Exile this league.
League mechanic is alright, not my favorite, but I also don't hate it. Loot doesn't seem great at low ratings, but I hear it gets really good as you progress.
Is there pvp?

Had this confusion with j a few months ago
Pillars of Eternity: Party-based CRPG in the vein of Baldur's Gate, Divinity: Original Sin.
Path of Exile: Single-player (generally) ARPG in the vein of Diablo.
There is PVP, but I'm not sure anyone ever plays it. It's a looter - run around and kill things, get loot, level up your character and get better gear, repeat (in dozens of different ways). :Leagues = new content/ways to kill stuff every 3-4 months.
This is a super long video, but it's really well timestamped to let you jump around and get a feel for things.

My cloud picture storage is getting out of hand so I'm looking to archive old ones to external storage. Seems like the pricing of these really varies and I don't know **** about storage. Anything I should look out for when purchasing? Will just have pictures and videos on it and I'll likely buy two to keep one not at my house for backup reasons.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

I’d just make sure you aren’t buying anything old with a spinning disk. I feel like it all is solid state at this point, but it goes without saying you don’t want something that is more likely to mechanically fail.

Ah yes, I remember it well. Paid $30 and spent 4 hours waiting for a download of the WRONG game. Haven't touched either since

It is like learning a new game, too. The simulations run so differently - and I assume much more accurately, naturally - compared to C:S that I'm needing to learn the balance of different zoning types, when to fulfill demand or leave it, how to balance what services apply to, how to balance my budget, etc. It's definitely more of a game now than a city painter - and I am liking that.
As an example, I built a rural community to help begin producing some goods I had been exporting, and hopefully start balancing my budget a bit better. But it's out of the zone of where my schools serve, so I started getting 'not enough educated labor' alerts even though I had plenty of school capacity. Don't think I ever encountered that in C:S.
One of the pitfalls right now is lack of assets. There's one asset for each type of school, and no mods, so tonight I'm going to be building a gigantic HS in my rural community lol. When I suppose isn't the most unrealistic thing - maybe one school centrally located to serve multiple rural communities. Just wish we had more options. Coming soon enough.

Finished Spider-man 2 and working through Mario Wonder (both A+ games in an already incredible year). Now about halfway through Disco Elysium. That game is a **** trip but wow, what the creators accomplished with a combat-less RPG is wild.

One of the most dissatisfying things about C:S is how ugly the assets are. For a city builder I’d expect a lot better looking textures

Yeah, C:S started way back when (almost a decade ago) as a purposefully cartoony game. Ridiculous assets. Over time, as Sim City floundered, many flocked to the game because of solid mechanics, and the devs started to focus future DLC and assets to being realistic - but there wasn't a good base to build from. And the game was old af.
C:S2 looks way better (if you can run it). People are taking some absolutely gorgeous screens; stuff that outshines even the most heavily asset-modded screens from C:S. Vanilla is just really, really pretty.

That's a Spider-Man 2 photo mode cap. Can't fool me.

I've opted against Spiderman 2 thus far. I finished both Spiderman and Miles Morales and found them both to be quite fun - but they got very repetitive after a while. Is Spiderman 2 any different?

There is less "to do" in the open world, which I think is an improvement. Probably only like, 4-5 "repetitive"-type things per neighborhood/borough. There is, anecdotally, a much longer story, from my recollection in comparison to SM (and certainly longer than Miles). And they do a nice job of switching naturally between Miles and Peter. But there's also not too much different w/r/t the formula, so you could easily wait for a sale or for the "mood" for an open world game to take you - I'm definitely feeling the open world fatigue.

Yeah, I’d echo these sentiments. I personally adore the gameplay of Spider-Man; probably the one open world game I don’t get worn out by.
But if you found yourself getting bored during the first two, you’ll likely find the same in SM2.
I think the part of the game that annoys me the most are the boss fights. Those in particular are long and repetitive for the most part. I find fighting hordes of enemies to be a lot more fun in this game than the boss fights. But the boss fights are obviously very significant parts of what is once again an amazing story.

I have another $50 GC to burn, so probably pick it up this week and play when I can. And even if I'm not 100% invested early I know I'll go back to it eventually and it'll be even better then.
