Joerger is like the only Doc assistant sorta available, I imagine he probably keeps Prunty/Baker/austrlian guy for at least the rest of the season.

Some on here know Joerger much better than I. But my impression is that he's very much a jag and hardass, hence why he's not employed right now. However, he is a highly respected tactician. And for Doc, that's what he needs.

Our roster is closer to the Boston teams he had success with. They are more talented than those Clippers teams and have a proven winner lead dog vs a talented head case in Embiid.

What I’m saying is I don’t really give a **** that he didn’t win with those teams. He won when he had the horses and didn’t when he didn’t. Good news is, we have the horses.

Not to mention having to deal with Ben Simmons and his various issues.

Doc is the Mike McCarthy of NBA coaches, to use your yardstick.

That said, we needed Mike McCarthy here. Badly.

Getting Doc off ESPN was never going to be cheap or temporary, I wouldn't be surprised if the Bucks have to buy his contract out or something.

Yeah I was amazed by all the posts thinking we could get him on a temp basis or cheap. There is no doc replacement after this. It's either win or blow it up

Most coaches that go into broadcasting have an out clause if they want to go back into coaching.

I would be shocked if Doc's agent didn't negotiate an out for a head coaching job.

That doesn't clear things up on docs end. He isnt leaving million dollar tv gig for a short term high pressure coaching gig that could blow up in his face unless he got paid big

4 games in 6 days and a long west coast trip. Little time to practice and implement many changes. But much of this board will meltdown each and every loss It's going to be epic. 8-)

This is definitely tickling my fancy. Maybe it would be like keeping Ken Macha's red ass on the bench to advise Roenicke back in 2010.

Many thanks for helping my excitement levels increase, PP.

Doc is not a good coach and if my choices were Doc or Bud, I'm taking Bud every single time.

But the one thing that gives me hope is that Doc is joining a team with little drama and a lot of veteran talent. This isn't the young Sixers with the Embiid/Simmons mess and isn't LA with Chris Paul's negativity and Blake Griffin going Hollywood. This seems closer to what he had in Boston - a veteran laden, professional team with lots of experience that just needed a unifying figure - someone to bring an "ubuntu" mentality to the team. He's more credible than Griff in that respect, without question. And that's a good thing right now, because the vibes surrounding this team are awful.

From that perspective, I'm hopeful that he'll have a positive impact on the roster as a whole. I am also hopeful that he'll be able to reign in some of Giannis's worst tendencies and convince the team to play better together.

However, I am curious to see how Giannis - in particular - reacts to Doc's penchant for public criticism. Because Giannis has not faced that since J-Kidd.

Luxury tax bill alone this year is approaching $60 million. Edens/Haslam will not hesitate to eat another coaching contract this summer if it's necessary.

Interested to see if Giannis will listen to Doc if he tells him to play off ball.

Very old reference, but I’d look for a Harvey Kuenn effect in that locker room. Guys are just going to be relieved Griff is gone. You’ll see a lot more effort out there.

The addition by subtraction cannot be stressed enough.

Frank Nova wrote:I’ll hold major criticism until the end of the season to see if/how much we improve under Doc. I have serious reservations but hopefully I’m wrong. Adding Joerger to the staff and hoping Horst makes a savvy trade could tip things more towards the good rather than the bad. Cavs did this exact same thing with Ty Lue and they won a title, if that happens then obviously all is forgiven lol. We’ll see. Go Bucks!
This is where I am at. If we fail this year then it's time to blow it up and get younger.

Joerger was a guy Badgerlander and I and some others were pushing for back when he was a Memphis assistant. His pre-NBA resume is impeccable. Won big all over.
