Should just call up DSJ already. Even if he’s just an end of the bench guy.

Interested in your scouting report on Banton if you don't mind sharing?
If I understand correctly from the scenario above you'd trade him for MarJon Beauchamp, PHI '25 2nd, MKE '31 2nd.
Gauging whether he really is an asset Portland is likely to liquidate before the deadline -- as well as what kind of contributions we could expect from him in Milwaukee this season and beyond.
Banton has good size for a perimeter player. His handles and shot are pretty good, but nothing special. He’s pretty average on defense. Might look better on a team with a more solid defensive foundation.
There doesn’t seem to be much untapped potential. Not really a 3 and d guy, but could play that role off the bench.
People tend to overrate him.

Sad for Pat but props to Doc for not playing favorites with vets

Why can we not go from one extreme to the other? He's had self-apparent situational use as a ball-handler, when we've been struggling, but Doc didn't pull the trigger. Deserves criticism for that, seemingly.
I'm wondering if there's something else going on here, like he's being bubble-wrapped for a trade. Cuz he doesn't even play over the bottom roster guys.

Call him up from what? He never suited up with the Herd. He should earn his way back, that's what the G League is for.

I don’t like to over analyze roster decisions but camping Pat on the bench when we’re trying to trade him is a fascinating move.
I think it’s one of 2 things:
1. Bubble wrap-Pat might be legit. We’re not even trying to showcase him for a trade, which means we might have one ready. I hope that’s the case.
2. Can’t find a trade and we might just be stuck with him, which is why Doc doesn’t feel the need to play him when he’s a negative on the court. I know we all make jokes about this but the owner/Giannis/organizational relationships with Pat might play a part in him staying too.
Pat is one of the worst contracts in the league, value-wise. 9+ million for someone who doesn’t play at all isn't feasible, especially on a contending team. That player option for next year isn’t ideal either.

The logic to trade Pat makes zero sense unless there's a team out there that's willing to eat his whole salary for an even more useless, slightly cheaper guy (Jevon Carter? Jeff Green?).

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions
Bubble-wrapping Pat to trade him when the time come makes some sense because he has one of our 2 most usable cap #'s to help us get under the 2nd apron w/ the move, or just over the incoming salary if he's a standalone + a pick for a more usable guy.
Pat's not totally useless. I explained 1 of them, the others are rebounding & switchability. Actually has a better d rating than Trent this year, let alone w/ PTL. And nobody who makes 9m/per on a 2 yr or less deal isn't 1 of the worst contracts. There are guys who'll make 4 times as much, for twice the duration, & are just role players. Those are real albatrosses, under the new rules especially. The Bucks don't have a real albatross contract. We ought to be relieved about that, instead of contriving one.
But if we can't find a feasible deal w/ Pat we could always keep & utilize him like I said, instead of a total phase out.

Giannis is the leading vote getter but gets his name put second? Only a small thing but WTF is that?

We have played a very easy schedule so far and we are still 17-15 fifth in the east. We would be fighting for the play-ins if we were in the other conference. Middleton came back so we do not have that excuse any more. This team does not look like a contender. we have to do something, make some trade(s) even if it means risking getting worse because staying put is not an option.

There is, but it's two fold with Horst having neither the power (firing Doc) nor the balls (completely revamp the frontcourt by trading Brook/Bobby) to execute either part.

we had a hard schedule to start the year than an easy schedule. we have a slightly easy SOS the rest of the way.
that said, we are still only 17-15 against a meh SOS so far. don't disagree with anything else.

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions
Is there a 3 team trade that we can send Brook to Miami and Khris elsewhere to take back Jimmy Butler? Giannis might have an issue with that but you just gotta tell him stfu at some point right? I think I’m at the point where I’d take my chances there, we’re approaching a point of no return pretty soon. This thing is gonna blow up at some point. We can’t just continue to tip toe around the problems with this roster. Brook being unplayable, Bobby being terrible on defense, Khris being super inconsistent on a nightly basis, Dame going through poor stretches and absolutely no depth behind any of them to push things a long. I like Jackson Jr, Green and Rollins but they aren’t any type of saving graces. Same goes for Trent and Prince.
Something’s gotta give here. I love Cam Thomas but I’m not even sure his mere presence on the roster is enough. Need another dominant scorer and someone who can take over a game when the whole team just becomes Giannis vs the world. It can’t be like that against good teams. We can’t even beat Brooklyn like that, we’re supposed to take on Boston, Cleveland and New York and beat them 4 out of 7? I’m just not even remotely seeing the vision here..
Is a mega roster turnover mid season even a recipe for success? When has anyone done that and came out better on the other side in the same season?
Doc also doesn’t seem like the right coach for any of this either. We don’t need a political voice. My 11yr old son can tell the Bucks at halftime “keep fighting”. Where’s the vision? Where’s the X and O schematics when we need an easy bucket? Nothing seems to come easy for the Bucks right now. Half court offense is either chuck a 3, watch Giannis try to get downhill or Bobby/Khris iso turn around jumpers. That’s coaching…. Atleast Bud had a style and a vision. There’s none of that with Doc. It’s a problem to add to the laundry list. I’m concerned again lol.

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions
The hail-mary (legal) Jimmy trade:
MIL Out: Brook, Khris, Pat, AJ Johnson, 2031 1st (unprotected), 2031 2nd
MIL In: Jimmy, Simone Fontecchio, Kevin Love
DET Out: Tim Hardaway Jr. Fontecchio
DET In: Brook, Pat, 2031 MIL 2nd
MIA Out: Jimmy, Kevin Love
MIA In: Khris, THJ, AJ Johnson, 2031 MIL 1st
If Jimmy has Milwaukee as one of his top destinations, then this deal lets Riley save some face without completely tanking the season. If the Heat really don't wanna take any bad salary back, this also ticks that box.

I'm fine trading Dame. I don't want Jimmy at all.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Same. I can’t believe people ignore that Butler always becomes a problem for every team he plays on.

How Miami views Middleton is critical here. If he didn't have the player option it'd be more cut and dry as a low risk ending contract. Alternatively they could view Khris as a depreciated asset whose salary slot could be helpful in a follow up deal.
RE Jimmy and the Bucks, main question I'd have is what the plan is with his extension.
At this point I suspect he'd be cool with any contender that cashes him out (he can always demand a trade later too)...but if we'd want to wait and see what then? Giving up the 2031 first and AJ Johnson for a half season rental would be rough on the other end of the spectrum too.

We're on the 2008 Cleveland path-----of the 2023 Clippers East.
Too much reliance on Dame and Khris to be the players they were five years ago. They can't do it like that anymore.
