well let's be real, they basically would be smoking us from a talent standpoint. sanders AND knight for #7 overall? freaking mike miller/randy foye went for #6 overall not that long ago.

brandon knight is a pretty talented dude, and on the right team i think he'd be a pretty dang good player. LA with knight/kobe/sanders wouldn't be competing, but if they could somehow add love, that team would be pretty nice.

Is there anyone on here who wouldn't sign up for Sanders for #7 and Nash?

Would be a no brainer IMO on many, many levels, even if the guy the Bucks took at #7 ultimately didn't pan out and/or we released Nash.

Potential of #7

We would lose more games next year for lotto purposes.

Gain future payroll flexibility

Cleanse the lockeroom.

Gain PR points with the casual fan.

That's totally hypothetical and nothing more than an opinion. Larry Drew won't be the coach and Knight won't be the primary ball handler. U have zero idea of what Smart will be like in the pros and I'm willing to say now, that a 3pt chucker is something he won't be.

An actual coach basically kills everything u just said because players that are well coached don't do things like that.

It was an over-exaggeration but ok.

No way that backcourt works though, especially if you want Parker/Giannis to succeed. Two ball dominant ball pounders without great vision and questions off the ball next to 2 (hopefully) dynamic, on ball scorers?

I knew u were exaggerating and didn't mean to come off like I was taking what u said literately, 1st off it takes longer than 2 seconds off the shot clock to even cross half court so shooting a 3 in that time span is already out of the question if we want to get technical lol.

Basically my point boils down to coaching. And I mean it's not like we are talking ball pounders like Lance Stephenson or Brandon Jennings though. I think ur describing more selfish style players. I don't view Knight as "selfish" and I can't see Smart being that way either unless he falls into a situation in LAL where he might have the highest usage rate for any rookie ever. But how's that his fault? More than likely that'll be the role given to him by his coach right? Both Knight and Smart seem like decently high IQ guys. A good coach could figure out the roles of each player and how to exploit team and individual strengths and hide team and individual weaknesses.

I mean for the sake of argument I can also put it like this, if Larry Drew is the coach then I retract pretty much everything I said and agree with u 100% that Smart and Knight couldn't co-exist. But, if the coach that fits my description (whoever it may be) is brought in, then it should be no problem for every player to buy into the system and that back court with both their skill sets could work no questions whatsoever.

Yup. No brainer.

It's essentially Sanders for #7.

So Sanders for Smart or Vonleh?

Could very easily be someone like Gordon or Randle, which really isn't a no brainer to me.

Sportsbook odds on who goes No. 1:

Embiid: -260
WIggins: +180
Parker: +1000

To the guy who thinks "THERE IS NO DOUBT" Wiggins goes #1 ... go make some money.

This is not true.

Like, at all. Austin Rivers may have been the worst player I've ever seen without the ball in his hands. Lavine has a lot to learn for sure, but he's so much better off the ball it's not funny. And a better athlete with a better stroke.

Just a bad comparison.

I edited to make my point clearer.

It's a bad comparison.

Edit (again): I dont' think he is or will ever be a point guard.

Count off your top 7. You'll get one of them, and a bunch of salary flexibility in the '15 offseason. Two more lotto picks this year plus a higher one next year. Giannis, 2, 7, 2015 1st is at least an honest attempt at forming a championship core.

I don't see any coach that could get it to work. It isn't a system that would need to be built around them, their mindsets would need to COMPLETELY change. Like a Zach Randolph 1:1000000 change.

I don't think Knight can be a point guard at all in his future. Smart has the potential word on his side, but I don't see it either. If he has any hope (IMO) you need to find his Eric Snow equivalent. We might just have a B list version of that on our roster already in Wolters though.

I'd do it for the reasons you and others have said, I just disagree that the reason we should do it is because of the talent available at 7, I think it will be rather mediocre. If Smart and Vonleh were off the board at that point I'd honestly just repackage #7 rather then draft someone there.

Why are so many people here quick to dump Larry Sanders? I'm honestly just curious. I get Illyasova, Mayo, Henson, and even Brandon Knight, but I've never really understood the Sanders talk. He's already shown his shotblocking ability and he has the athleticism and youth to get better on both ends of the floor. To me, that's something you can build around when your constructing a winning team.

Have his troubles this year really turned people off to the degree that you just want him gone?
