If the Bucks value Thybulle highly I wonder why we didn’t find a way to pick him up in the Dame trade.

Still surprised we were able to get away without including Portland’s 2nd or MarJon in that deal. Imagine these pieces were discussed plenty in those talks, maybe with Thybulle the sticking point.

Not impossible there’s a ‘Grayson Allen to Phoenix despite not being dealt for Jae Crowder’ situation.

*Edited to note / ask are we unable to trade for him until Jan. 15? Per Fan Spo trade machine: Matisse Thybulle cannot be traded until Jan 15 because he re-signed using Bird rights with a 20% raise in salary and the Trail Blazers are over the cap.

Don't forget the 15% trade kicker that Portland would have to swallow.

Tinfoil Thybulle hats still available, not too late to join the cult.
Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.

Idk why we would trade for Wiggins and not Caruso, much rather have Caruso.

Bucks can send cash to the Blazers as part of the deal to cover the kicker or Thy can wave the kicker if he really wants to reunite with Dame and be on a contender. That won’t hold up a deal.

Stop trading Khash. Might as well let Giannis pack his bags too then.

I forgot Thybulle was extended this summer before the Dame trade.

Let’s assume the only reason he wasn’t included is because of that:

Jan. 15 when he can be dealt we could send Pat back to Portland with MarJon and the Blazers’ own 2024 second as sweetener.

Connaughton is exactly the kind of guy you’d want around the kids in a lockerroom and his experience with the community from his first go around probably helps expand his real estate interests there to keep him happy. Beauchamp also has ties to the Pacific Northwest and Rich Paul might view it as an acceptable place for him to develop with less pressure at this stage of his career.

Is Thybulle (and an extra roster spot) enough of an upgrade for the Bucks to be worth it though?

German Athens wrote:Last time thybulle was traded, 1 year ago, he was traded for a 25 year old prospect and two low-value seconds (this year’s Knicks pick which is likely in the back half of the second, and the blazers ‘29 second which likely holds very little value being so far out).

I think the one thing you'd have to look at and question where his value has raised is if you believe in his three point shot. In Philly it was almost non existent and probably one of the main reasons why he was traded. In Portland he has raised it from bad (32%) to pretty good (38%) and this season he has been around a 42% shooter from the corners, all while nearly doubling his attempts overall on his new team. If you think that holds up, or hell even gets better off of superstars, then I don't see any reason why his value wouldn't have improved, pretty substantially. Also locked into a pretty team friendly deal after he was traded.

Alright, taking into consideration the feedback here:

Mke: Wiggins
GSW: Bobby, Thybulle
Por: Dre, Oladipo, our ‘27 second, two more seconds from Houston (feels like an overpay to me, but I’m interested in feedback)
Hou: Pat

Mke: Grimes
Nyk: marjon, Portland second

We’d add some really solid wings, and bolster our chances this season. Our ability to go small ball and play up tempo would significantly improve. We’d also free up two roster spots. Sign the best backup big available, and maybe delon wright gets bought out this season and comes to us.

Our top 8:
Giannis
Dame
Midds
Brook
Wiggins
Grimes
Beasley
Jae

We could go small ball against Boston:
Dame, Grimes, Midds, Wiggins, Giannis

Have grimes guard brown and Wiggins guard Tatum, Giannis cover KP, Dame guard white, and midds matchup with Jrue.

I feel gross trading Dre, though.

I spent all summer rolling my eyes at the random dame trade post so I just stay quiet on what’s realistic or not

Any combo where we trade Brook Lopez and get Grant Williams/Hartenstein + Kuminga/Brooks aka a mobile young fast defensive minded who is a lob threat + an atheltic wing to challenge the Trio Butler/Tatum/Brown

Brook's 3s can be easily replaced with a lob dunk defensive minded big. Lillard can play elite pick n roll and help a no skill center score 10-20p with lobs and pocket passes.

Please give me time and space as I reevaluate things after finding out I have been on the same train of thought as Fotis recently.

We can wish the game were played (and called) differently, but building a team for the way things used to be, or spending on a defensive wing who would take court time away from someone who can score, would be like what generals do -- fighting the last war.

I guess it will always rankle some that "all we do is outscore the other team." As Vince Lombardi used to say, that's not everything. It's the only thing.

On the other hand.....

With career-highs in games played (68), minutes (1024) and effective field-goal percentage (62%), Gabriel showed to be one of Darvin Ham’s most trusted players.

On offense, he proved to be more than just an energy big, as he flashed touch around the rim (53% on floaters) and was dynamic in the pick-and-roll. According to the league’s Synergy data, Gabriel scored 1.36 points (89th percentile) per possession as the roller.

Defensively, Gabriel’s boundless energy and length helped him be a deterrent at the rim and menace on the glass.

I think the board is making this too difficult, a two for one trade for a perimeter defender and adding Gabriel would do wonders.

Been thinking about Wiggins a lot. It's a huge risk/reward proposition but another long two-way dude like him to close games would be potentially huge.

I wouldn't go near Wiggins. He's in the perfect spot to succeed in GS and he can't be arsed to try hard enough. I wouldn't want that salary on the books up to the end of 2027.
